Who needed a jacket this AM?

#1 Postby angelwing » Wed Aug 09, 2006 6:55 am

Wow! I got up this AM at 4 and went out on the deck to have a smoke and my goodness it was downright chilly! Turned the radio on and they said it was 60! What a big change from last week! Right now it's absolutely gorgeous out! Wish it would last!

Wish we could bottle it, I'd love it if it was like this the whole year, especially with no humidity!

I would have slept with my windows open, but then I'd drown from the SEVEN inches of rain we got this morning between 3 and 7:45. Yes I said SEVEN inches!!!! We still have some roads closed in town, and we can not even get to our local hospital because the road to the hospital is underwater.

It was 37 degrees this morning here in Kremmling (NW Colorado)where I am working right now. Didn't need a jacket. Kremmling averages 2.3 days below freezing in August, so 37 is nothing unusual.

Ain't that the truth Bre! It was 79 at 5am here (evidently our local reporting station was down for about 7 hours).

Thats nothing, during that beast of a heatwave, I had lows from 80-85 and dewpoints from 70-75, NYC had a low of 87. thats an above average high.

Hey I know that town. I passed through there on my way to Denver one year and it felt nice..in probably the 60s or 70s in the middle of summer. Don't want to know what it gets like there in winter though...

Anyway, 60 is perfect for me. If it's 60 degrees in the middle of the night I would go outside and enjoy it, and it would feel perfect.

I would miss the seasons, definately! I always love the first big snow of the year.

HOWEVER, I don't want to waste this gorgeous weather we're having today. It's definately perfect! :D

considering their low was only 60F, I think we can expect it sooner than that. :) (I hope..)

In Kremmling, the average daily July high is 82, about the same as say the average July high in New York City or Boston, but it cools off at night over here. Average nightly low here in July is 42, about the same as NYC or Boston in November. Winter can get in the -40's, though -20's is much more common.

I'm just working in Kremmling for a few weeks though. I actually live farther west. In Maybell, near where I live, the record summer high is 102 and the winter low -61, though in an average year (according the the NWS) the hottest day is only 95 and the average coldest day -31.

We got down to 59 on August 15, 2004...felt like heaven in the middle of the summer. If we're lucky we normally see temps like that in late September but usually by October. Until then we will continue to suffer!

Neat fact is that all time record low for August occured from the same front that picked up Charley.
