HUGE African Wave

#1 Postby stormernie » Wed Aug 09, 2006 7:04 pm

A huge African wave is about exit Africa - tomorrow AM, this one should develop given a lot more moist air to work with as well as upper level high pressure in area.

Expect track to be slightly south of west to around 10 N and then head west for a few days.

We will see if this is the beginnig of the Cape season that has been dormaint for over a year.

Maybe it'll moisten up the atmosphere for future waves...that's about it though.

Any thoughts on this wave this morning as it heads towards the coast to emerge over the atlantic? still looks nice with good convection and some good outflow.

it is right now and will be for a couple of days, but after a couple of days, the air will be juicier with less dry air(typical for this time of year) and this wave should get going really good. We are getting into mid August, so it's time....

It is very large, but, it seems to be moving northward this morning (that happens sometimes over coastal Africa, even in August)...

we have had huge waves this year, and none of them made the air "juicy"
what makes you think this will be and different??

the longer term models are not showing much happening all the way till aug. 27/28..
i think this season is gona be slower than most expect

Wow - if that comes true (the last few days of August), that would really be unusual, since, some seasons end after mid-September...

Don't forget that in 1992 a storm named Andrew waited until August 17 to form.
