Can anyone tell if this will be an east or gulf coast year?

This is the general tropical discussion area. Anyone can take their shot at predicting a storms path.

Steve I still think this will be an EC year..but once again no one along the gulf or atlantic coasts is "safe" till the season is over.

I think it will be a Florida, Texas and one or two upper Gulf Coast kind of year. The ITCZ is still fairly far south, the SAL is inhibiting anything north of 12n and the trough keeps digging down the east coast which would drive storms out to sea, although can't rule one out for the Carolina's either, but I don't think the UL winds will allow anything more than a Cat 2. I'm not saying there won't be some fishes, just that the major landfallers will likley be more of the same we saw last year, throw in Texas.

I think Jimmy Buffett is going to bring me some hurricanes down to the coast and sing a few songs about them.

I think people are so used to hurricanes around here that when they are checked into a hospital they put some of that red liquid in their IV. :ggreen:

I personally won't be dissappointed since my hurricane shutters will not be in until Sept 23rd.
