Charley was the last Tropical system to come through here, about 2 years ago right now, it was raining here, not much wind, 10-15mph.

2 AM EDT SUN AUG 15 2004

...CHARLEY STILL PACKING A PUNCH AS IT RACES TOWARD NEW ENGLAND...

A TROPICAL STORM WARNING REMAINS IN EFFECT FROM NEW HAVE CONNECTICUT
TO MERRIMACK RIVER MASSACHUSETTS...AND FOR EASTERN LONG ISLAND FROM
FIRE ISLAND EASTWARD.

AT 2 AM EDT...0600Z...THE CENTER OF TROPICAL STORM CHARLEY WAS
LOCATED NEAR LATITUDE 39.2 NORTH...LONGITUDE 73.8 WEST OR ABOUT
40 MILES EAST OF ATLANTIC CITY NEW JERSEY. THIS IS ALSO ABOUT
255 MILES SOUTHWEST OF MONTAUK POINT ON THE EASTERN TIP OF LONG
ISLAND.

CHARLEY IS MOVING TOWARD THE NORTHEAST NEAR 35 MPH...AND THIS
MOTION IS EXPECTED TO CONTINUE FOR THE NEXT 24 HOURS. THIS MOTION
SHOULD BRING THE CENTER OF CHARLEY NEAR SOUTHEASTERN NEW ENGLAND
LATER THIS MORNING.

MAXIMUM SUSTAINED WINDS ARE 40 MPH...WITH GUSTS TO 55 MPH. CHARLEY
IS RAPIDLY LOSING TROPICAL CHARCTERISTICS AND IS EXPECTED TO BECOME
AN EXTRATROPICAL LOW PRESSURE LATER TODAY.

TROPICAL STORM FORCE WINDS EXTEND OUTWARD UP TO 85 MILES MAINLY TO
THE EAST OF THE CENTER. SHORTLY BEFORE MIDNIGHT... A SHIP SOUTHEAST
OF THE CENTER OF CHARLEY REPORTED A SUSTAINED WIND OF AT LEAST 45
MPH.

THE ESTIMATED MINIMUM CENTRAL PRESSURE IS 1014 MB...29.94 INCHES.

TIDES OF 1 TO 2 FT ABOVE NORMAL ARE POSSIBLE IN THE TROPICAL STORM
WARNING AREA.

RAINFALL TOTALS OF 1 TO 2 INCHES ARE LIKELY ALONG THE PATH OF
CHARLEY OVER THE CENTRAL AND NORTHEAST U.S. COASTAL STATES.

REPEATING THE 2 AM EDT POSITION...39.2 N... 73.8 W. MOVEMENT
TOWARD...NORTHEAST NEAR 35 MPH. MAXIMUM SUSTAINED
WINDS... 40 MPH. MINIMUM CENTRAL PRESSURE...1014 MB.

I remember waking up the morning that Charley hit SW Florida, and turning on CNN. I almost couldn't believe the monster this storm had grown into. I then stayed glued to the tube, listening to updates, and watching the tight eye make landfall over Florida on the CNN Doppler Radar loop. Frightening. :eek: :eek: :eek:

I remember what I did when I heard 145mph

It was the second loudest F-bomb I've ever dropped. (the loudest should be obvious)
