WowShannon...that is EXCITING news!!! Good luck girl!

Our trip was great...since we've been back, my daughter has gone to the Colorado River on a boating vacation with friends, and my son Brett has gotten home from his summer in FL, and been to Mexico on the church missions trip...now its full on Cheer and football everyday and its crazy busy time here...trying to find time to go into Palm Springs and LA for school clothes shopping...

We're going to a Chargers game in Maryland and staying for a few days...anyone live in Maryland??? My husbands work is sending us on this great vacation...wooohoooo

Hello all - good news to share. I've been hired permanently at the middle school I was working at last school year. In the cafeteria, same as last year. We report back to work Aug. 22 and I'll receive my new contract then. I'm on a regular employee, with benefits now!

That said, I'm in for a very busy 3 week period. We have a wedding shower in my family this weekend (6 hour long event). A 3 day family reunion in my husband's family, next week. Our college aged daughter goes back to school in a few weeks (reporting early). I am looking at my August calendar and it's pretty darn busy. So I've decided to log myself out. Forcing myself to not check for PM's or post much. I hope I can be strong! Putzing on the computer, whilst fun and enjoyable, takes a lot of my time up.

So if I'm not around for a while, don't worry. I'll get into a new routine when my job starts back up. I might even be working part time for my husband's office, here at home. Combined, it might total full time hours (both jobs), it's possible. All I know is once you get that college tuition bill each January and August, it's a shocker!

Take care and I hope the 'cane season will remain light.

Mary

PS - warmest congrats Pojo! Hoping your dream does come thru.....very proud of you!

Congratulations, Mary! It sounds like your new job has prompted a positive, ambitious new outlook -- and new time management skills. We'll all be expecting regular checks to your S2K buddies here on a regular basis really soon!

Congratulations on the job, Mary. Woo Hoo! Are you the nice, pleasant one or the mean crabby one?

We're going through an impending wedding too. My stepdaughter gets married in a week. We, er, my wife had the shower 2 weeks ago and we went to the rehersal dinner (actually a picnic) today. It came off ok, even with my wife's ex, and both "fathers" of the groom there. I'm telling you, things are so complicated these days.

The wedding is around the corner. Fortunately things are staying on budget and it looks like everything will be taken care of. My wife got her shoes and her hair style today. We're holding our breath for some items that we ordered to be delivered this week as promised, and for the dry cleaners to come through as promsed.

The biggest thing that we're holding our breath about is that the bride and groom don't kill each other in the next week or call it off. KIDS!!!!!

Ed - oh I'm definitely the pleasant lunch lady - I remember wicked ones my girls had in Elementary School, mean crabby ladies! They made me promise to smile and be nice, if I took this job. Actually that was the first thing they both said - you'd better be nice Mom! LOL Of course my smile might be lost on Middle School students.....the ones that really tug at my heart are First Graders, new at the hot food lunch line (juggling a tray, choosing milk and then paying - a tough job at first). I start back to work in exactly one week - next Tuesday.

Your stories about wedding showers and then the upcoming wedding, not to mention the shoe thread, are bringing back memories. Planning a wedding is nerve wracking - big time. I don't know of anyone going thru it - bride, bride's family, attendants, close family relatives and sometimes the groom if he's involved (some are not, can you believe that? They just, well, show up!) that's calm. Even the calmest of the calm begin worrying that something might go wrong.

It'll be over soon and then you'll all get a much needed rest. Let us know how it goes!

That goes for you too pojo - keep us updated.

My sister Retha and her husband Mike got married on 7/11...noticed I said ON 7/11 and not at 7/11 hehe...in 1992. :) Was a sizzler of a day and even in the sanctuary standing up there as one of my sister's ushers...and nerves, too...wasn't a pretty sight (at least with sweat cascading down my brow LOL) ...was funny as she and my bro-in-law were greeting the guests row by row afterwards as they dismissed for the reception...a good friend of the family named Barry who he and his family attended the church that we did. Anyway, a corner of Barry's eyeglasses got caught in Retha's veil as they hugged...absolutely hilarious! Never did send that segment into America's Funniest Videos...but we ALL had talked about it for a while.

EveryWxone have a Terrific Tuesday! :D

Good Luck Shannon!

Well, today is a milestone...my kids both started high school, and at seperate high schools at that! They've had a great summer, and appear to be really excited about this next step of their education...Brett finds out today if he made first string for the freshman football team, and Chloe' is busily entrenched in cheer...plus school now, and church activities...no time to find trouble I hope! Please keep them in your prayers, pray that they make good choices and are positive leaders in their schools...momma bear will always worry....God Bless you all!

Any others start school today???

My son starts his PhD studies at the UofA today. It's also his first day as a Teaching Associate for the NATS101 Course.

He has football practice directly after school...so, I miss him, but he is doing really well on the team...then Chloe has cheer til 9 at night...so all you busy moms out there....I sat back and watched you all these years, be sooo very busy with kids activities, and now its my turn, and I'm feelin for ya....lol <BR>
