Back in the heatwave of 1998, the park across from our house looked worse than that. The cracks were so big, you could lose a baseball in them easily. I've noticed some parks in our area starting with cracks. By mid-Sept, assuming no rain, it will really be bad.

I remember the heat wave of '98. Not fun. It seems like there has been a lot more rain up there this year, maybe not "officially" but at least there has been some rain on the radar - even west of there today - that's a bit unusual to have these rain events WITH the heat.

In the 1980 heat wave, our backyard in Dallas was had so many deep cracks in it we stopped even walking back there. I measured the cracks, and they were way more than 3 feet deep.
