I'm starting the this thread already because I think the plane will go out today and they should be leaving around now. The flight is scheduled to leave base at 10am EDT and be arrive in the invest at 2pm EDT. Please put any obs you find here.

I wouldn't get your hopes up....there isn't really much to investigate.

There is as much to investigate as anything this year. And it's real close to home.
It would be a waste of time and money. It is close enough, that if it somehow rapidly developed, they can send out recon on short notice. But its clear that it is not too organized, and will be facing hostile conditions, and likely move away from the US.

Hmm, no recon reports 45 minutes after the scheduled departure time... I'd say the flight has been cancelled.

Well, maybe not too suprised. I hadn't actually looked at the system till now. It does have a decent circulation and some convection.

No. In fact, these reports don't mean that they are definitely flying. Just a couple days ago they started sending reports and then cancelled the flight.

For the North Atlantic...Caribbean Sea and the Gulf of Mexico...
Shower activity has increased slightly this morning in association
with an area of low pressure located about 125 miles southeast of
the coasts of north and South Carolina. A tropical depression
could still form later today or tonight...before upper-level winds
become more unfavorable for significant development on Thursday.
An Air Force Reserve reconnaissance aircraft is expected to
investigate the system this afternoon
.
Elsewhere...tropical storm formation is not expected through
Thursday.
