I looked back 6 pages and didn't see this anywhere... so if a duplicate, my apologies.

18z surface map from TAFB shows the new wave position.

TROPICAL WAVE IS INTRODUCED OFF THE COAST OF W AFRICA ALONG 18W
S OF 19N MOVING W AT 10 KT. POSITION IS BASED ON SATELLITE
IMAGERY...HOVMOLLER DIAGRAMS...AND UPPER AIR SOUNDINGS.
SCATTERED MODERATE TO ISOLATED STRONG CONVECTION IS W OF THE
WAVE AXIS FROM 5N-10N BETWEEN 20W-23W.

http://www.nhc.noaa.gov/text/refresh/MI ... 0006.shtml?
From 8 PM Discussion.

If convection is west of wave axis it means there is easterly shear blowing in the area.

WIOW!!!!! This baby is looking good tonight along with those other strong waves behind this http://www.ssd.noaa.gov/PS/TROP/DATA/RT/EATL/IR4/20.jpg. It is starting to get Cape Verde time out there in the Eastern Atlantic. September will be a VERY busy month if these sweet looking waves persist coming off the African coast like they are right now. I can see a BIG train come September with some curving out to sea and others sneaking by the troughs and being directed into the East coast.

Its very very weak but at 9 north/17 west there is a cirulation on quickscats. That would its a tropical distrabance. http://manati.orbit.nesdis.noaa.gov/dat ... MBds32.png

That is an awesome satellite photo. Looks like conditions might be outstanding for development in the Atlantic just in time for peak season.

long links have never bothered me, but if it bothers other people then how do we make a link shorter?

Above is a thread where there are instructions about how to make hypertext links or shorter ones.
