El nino is NOT going to form
I am NOT trying to get very upset or mad or anything but people should NOT be saying that this 2006 storm season is going to be DEAD AND SLOW, because infact I foresee that the atlantic basin will get VERY TREMENDOUSLY ACTIVE, I AM LIKE DR.GRAY I MAINLY FOCUS ON THE ENSO CONDITIONS AND THERE IS NO EL NINO OUT THERE, If you all do NOT believe me, here is why, and COME EARLY SEPTEMBER THIS 2006 storm season will get hyper active and Here is Why
looking at the Latest sea surface temperature map of the eastern pacific it is Neutral if some one could put a link on here, I keep on telling you all that the eastern pacific remains Neutral and if you Do NOT believe me please you all please refire up a GOOGLE search engine and go to or just type in sea surface temperature anomaly map and find for your self... this is a message to you all that this storm season will get active and If you do NOT believe me then look at the most accurate sea surface temperature anomaly map your self thats updated today on the 19th of august I am ASSUMING. does anyone agree with me or trust me that this 2006 storm season will get more active??? and I know there is lots of dry air and wind shear out there and ulls, upper level lows and Lots and LOTS of them too, BUT ALL THAT WILL CHANGE,

BUT temperatures UNDERNEATH the surface are still anomalously high, Will. The SOI crashed back down to -25 yesterday. If we use the MEI as our primary indicator, we would already have a weak El Nino.
EDIT for links on MEI (Multivariate ENSO Index):

William,we will know much more about if el nino comes or not when the Australians forecasters for ENSO will release their latest update on August 30th.The link above shows their last update which they said neutral conditions would prevail during the rest of 2006.Now let's wait for the new August 30 update to then see if they change their language about ENSO.

My personality is show me don't tell me. I do not see favorable conditions for development right now. Until conditions become more favorable we will not see development. I will jump on the "above average season" bangwagon if conditions change in the next week. However, if we continue to see a hostile environment through the month then it is checkmate in my opinoin.

Most people here are not saying that we will have no hurricanes. Just expressings concerns (or for some delight) that the current weather pattern which has been unfavorable for significant tropical cyclones will persist throughout the season. That doesn't mean there will be no hurricanes. You and perhaps some others need have too have more patience, we haven't reached the peak of the season yet.

Of course I am not an expert Will but I don't think this is season is over yet. It is early and I am afraid of what is going to come in September. The weather is here is very hot and humid. The water in the GOM is very warm and it is not on the top either. According to my husband who is doing scuba diving is warm 40ft to 60ft below.
As for school Will I understand not wanting to go. I remember not wanting to go. Do you think your teacher(s) would maybe let you do a report on hurricanes?

Hey...after last year...and all the overtime (with no extra pay...since I'm government)...I'll take all the El Nino I can get. I retire next Spring...and to go out in a whisper is fine with me. I'm too old for this.
Got to have me more el nino (pictures Christopher Walken in his mind banging on a cow bell).

Will...you should not feel this way.
People who lose everything because of a hurricane feel sad and
miserable because it is like the end of the world to them- they
have lost everything...Hurriacnes will make an individual sad and
miserable if it hits that individual and affects that individual's life..
Hurricanes are like having a big fire destroy an individual's
house in that the individual loses everything.
I felt sad and miserable the day Hurricanes Charley
and at one point Hurricane Ivan were forecasted to destroy my house and level it to pieces with especially surge and also wind (I am only 9 feet above sea level).
I want an El Nino. I do not want to have to deal with any more
hurricane damage to my house.
