After all, hurricane tracking is what makes this board fun.

But let's not forget what somebody who went through real heck with Katrina would feel if they saw someone wishing on hurricanes.

I have a new feeling towards them after Charley and the pain in the **** work, inconveniences, costs and problems afterwards.

I do not believe will is suggesting that he wants a hurricane to hit anywhere. He has a passion for them and wants to track them like everyone else.

Will, each year is so very different!

What may be interesting for you is to get a look at weather in a bigger way, so that you can see how the patterns go back and forth all the time.

There are people here feeling much like you, disappointed to not have something to track and there are other people who have had hurricanes make their lives really hard, so everyone has different feelings about this season, which, as you know, is slow for big storms.

But ALL weather is fascinating and if you work on what builds up the storms or makes the waves that look promising go away, you could help yourself understand, while asking good questions here, why each season has so much difference. A study of weather patterns, not just in the Atlantic, but the Pacific as well - as was mentioned, can keep you busy while waiting for something to track in the Atlantic.

Will as a friend and fellow weather tracker please trust me when I say
that the lack of hurricanes is an absolute blessing...
These storms have caused a tremendous amount of misery and
suffering.

Oh so true. It took us 2 years to get back in our home when Floyd came though. I guess that was when i really got into tracking hurricanes. I know your Passion Will. But so glad that there has been none so far.
JMO But I have a funny feeling about what is to happen in Sept. But I can just hoping NO Canes this year to hit any land.

Does "NO NO..." mean no New Orleans hurricanes? Are you interested in the just the northern gulf or anywhere?

This song is dedicated to this thread, those that need canes to track and fear of the season passing by with no canes:

it looks slow for awhile will. at least you can read up this season and get ready for a busy season next year. we are in a 2 or 3 decade cycle of high activity and its unlikely we will have 2 years of meagre storms

In terms of the other parameters, the ENSO is still neutral but even if a warm phase event were starting now the lagtime would mean that the effects wouldn't begin to show for a while so it's something else that's affecting the ATL (it could even be fallout from that insane season last year as sometimes an extremely active season is followed by a less active one for no apparent reason). At any rate, there are other regions that get TC's that one can track.

Will, I hope you are feeling better. The time will come when you and everyone else on this board will get their chance to track a storm. Just hang in there. They are coming! And They're Here!

After August 19th, activity ramped up so much that the entire season ended up with 14 named storms. Im not saying that the same will happen again, but it shows that its never over until its over. Im sure something will form. Dont you worry :D

Same in 1999

Dont worry Will, September is a wicked month.

Nope.

The positives from my perspective:

1. No splinters from putting up plywood.
2. No loss of money from down time at work.
3. No driving all over Florida to help friends and relatives evacuate or board up.
4. No dealing with moronic insurance companies who don't want to pay out to said relatives or friends.

As far as I'm concernced the season could end today.

We need one pause before another 2005 style year.....

Will, we're just getting started. At this time last year, Katrina was just being born. I can guarantee you that at this time next week, we'll be discussing a storm/hurricane. Everyone here loves tracking storms. We don't like being the target of a hurricane, but we like sharing thoughts. At this time next week, I look forward to hearing your thoughts. Just steer 'em away from my hometown!
