Highs in the mid-90°'s here, with a heat index of near 100°. Our last
GOOD drenching rain was back on August 4th. We had a 5-minute
downpour on August 10th....even the weeds are dying from the
heat and the drought. I haven't had to use any weedkiller!

We did get some rain today! The temps dropped from the lower 90°'s to a
cool 78° and cloudy.

Earlier, I was chatting with Mark on Messenger, and he said we're now tied in 9th place with 36 consecutive days.

Hopefully, the streak will break tomorrow.

We haven't seen the end of the heat wave just yet, more than likely, it'll continue through Early October.

A new heat wave is supposed to resume here. Temperatures are supposed to be above 95 degrees the next three days! It's supposed to be 98 degrees on Tuesday, the records for these dates are around 99 and 100, so we're threatening them.

Yeah, we're somewhere around 11-14 days consecutive probably. Today was not forecasted to hit the 100's. The rest of the week is forecasted to get close, like 98 or 99. So, by Friday this year could be in 8th place.

Actually that is incorrect, as we are #9 for most 100+ days in a calendar year. We are currently at 8th for Greatest Consecutive 100+ days (14)(Aug 8-Aug 21)* and counting.

My bad on the type-O

According to that link CC, we are tied for 8th at 14 consecutive days. Unless I'm looking at that wrong.

Guess what? It rained out here in Rockwall this evening. We had a really nice 20-25 min shower. We thought the world was ending at first. ;)

Hopefully today, the 100*F streak will end, I'm already "burned" out as it is.

How are you guys in Dallas faring this summer in terms of 100-degree-or-more days?

(Nevermind: I missed the post above me ... I see 37 days. Wow)

We've had 24 of them this summer in Austin ... but I suspect it may even be more harsh 200 miles up the interstate.

Here's hoping this stupid ridge of death breaks down soon!

That sounds like exactly what is happening here in Allen. After a while you start to take it personal that everybody else is getting rain but you. :(

Yesterday it reached 97 degrees (which is 9 degrees above average) and today it's supposed to reach 98 (the record is 100, so we could threaten that).

I've been thinking this has been one of the hottest summers I've seen in south central Texas and now NWS has confirmed it.

Taking the average temperature for Austin between June 1st and August 20th, we're averaging 85.9 degrees. Should that number hold through these last 10 days (and given it was 103 degrees yesterday with a low of only 76, I don't know why it wouldn't), we would go down as the fourth warmest period in HISTORY for the June 1st-August 31st time frame.

I picked the wrong summer to go through without a new a/c unit!
