Possible BOC Development?

#1 Postby ronjon » Wed Aug 23, 2006 5:57 am

This mornings IR SAT shows a convective flareup forming in the BOC. Looks to be a slight counterclockwise turning.

There seems to be some vorticity in that area.

Also some 20KT shear north of it.

Worth watching some today.

Yea, saw that. Believe it was that MLC that tracked across Yucatan was part of the big blowup in the Caribb from a couple days ago. Won't it just track West?

That is what the steering patterns look like a north westward movement. So if it wanted to develope it probably wouldn't have the time to do so.

I see this little wave flaring up again today and like every morning looks good but I swear I am not falling for the hype today. :hmm:

I'm thinking anything that would form here, would move west into Mexico.

This is what I wrote last nite, on the western Caribbean thread.
I'm gonna take a stab at a prediction, here goes nothing.
Tomorrow morning a cluster of storms will develop over the Eastern BOC. This T-storm complex will organize to at least TD status Thursday, before going inland north of Tampico.
It seems to be forming a bit further west than I thought so it may not may to TD status, but IMHO it is getting a little organization to it. Might get a mention on the TWO.

It looks pretty good on the satellite and seems to be circulating - I'd put 98L up on that one...

Nice blow up of convection refiring in the BOC for those tired of being teased by 97L.

I thought this area would get going yesterday then move into Mexico but it is not moving much and probably would drift north if it does start to organize.
