There are many tornado warnings out now. It seems to be getting organized well! Now the question: where will they touch down?

Potentially VIOLENT tornado on the ground near St. Peter, MN!

Reported 1/2 mile wide!

THERE IS A 1/2 MILE WIDE TORNADO ON THE GROUND TOWARDS THE CITY OF ST. PETER, MINNESOTA. POPULATION 9,500. NICOLETT AND LE SEUR COUNTY! 1/2 MILE TORNADO.

GRLevel3 isn't updating for me so I can't be much help. Seems like 2 classic cells in SD. Both have very pronounced couplets and are very likely tornadoing or at least producing funnels.

Well I'm gonna call it a night. SPC page down for me. GRLevel3 down. IWIN down... It's very hard for me to get any info at all :( The Storm heading towards Huron still looks very healthy. Hope it doens't do anything too nasty tonight.

706 PM CDT THU AUG 24 2006

...A TORNADO WARNING REMAINS IN EFFECT UNTIL 730 PM CDT FOR
SOUTHWESTERN BEADLE COUNTY...

AT 706 PM CDT...WEATHER SERVICE DOPPLER RADAR CONTINUED TO INDICATE A
SEVERE THUNDERSTORM CAPABLE OF PRODUCING A TORNADO. THIS TORNADO WAS
LOCATED 5 MILES NORTH OF VIRGIL...OR ABOUT 9 MILES WEST OF HURON...
MOVING EAST AT 30 MPH.

THE TORNADO WILL BE NEAR...
HURON AROUND 720 PM CDT...

THIS TORNADO IS HEADED FOR THE SOUTH SIDE OF HURON. THIS IS AN
EXTREMELY DANGEROUS AND LIFE THREATENING SITUATION. TAKE COVER NOW.

That looks really serios...is the region more rural or well populated ?

that cell north of rochester is NASTY..a classic hook echo with echo free region in the hook and a decent couplet. these supercells have turned into right movers within the last 20-30 minutes and this has me on edge since, if the trend continues, they'll be down here in a few hours. the warm front is still right on top of madison, and though tornadic indices aren't quite as high here as they are in southern MN, this has me worried.

best guess is that cell mergers will occur and a derecho will develop out of all this overnight. if any of these cells on the warm front remain discrete, tornadoes are obviously likely.

i gotta get out of here for a bit - have been staring at this screen for far too long.

Any coverage out of that area?

I think this will be an all-nighter. Nighttime tornadoes are especially dangerous.

It's rural, but there are several small villages and many farms.
