That's true, Shannon. I thought it would be nice to state the precise minute of the Full Moon. :D

WidreMann, yes we shoot the breeze here... a lot of the conversation here is about the weather, but other issues are embedded, if you will with "weather chat." I can relate to you watching; rather then participating like in real life. :)

Hey ya'll. Have a story to share with you.

I was out in the pool with my sister today when my grandmother came by and climbed up on the deck I am building. She then began to panic and told me that there was a snake climbing up the fence and was about ready to get into the pool. :o I hate snakes with a passion. My sister jumps out of the pool and heads onto the back porch. My grandmother gets down off the deck to get a pitchfork. I start to climb up the ladder when it unhinges itself. :o I was on the top rung and fall backward into the pool! :o I can't swim so that was my first time going all the way down.

By the time I come up gasping for air and having gulped in some water, I am hollering at my sister to come help me put the ladder back together. (I had not screwed it completely together. I had forgotten! ) She was screaming and crying and saying she was going to dial 9-1-1.

So here I am in the pool with no way out as I see the snake peek its head over the top of the pool. About that time, my grandmother comes running out of the workroom with a pitchfork and the snake was no more.

Whew! I am give out. And I said I wasn't superstitious.

Wx247...now that was not funny today...but that story WILL be funny some day. Lucky you didn't get hurt worse...or that the snake didn't decide to check you out in the water!

When in scenic Ft. Leonard Wood in August of 1969, I was in a foxhole doing target practice with my M-14. I was pretty good with old trusty.

But AFTER I climbed out of the foxhole, my drill sergeant looked down where I had been standing and there, staring up at him, was a snake! Bang bang, you're dead snake.

But I think it was only those few pieces of wood in the bottom that must have kept that snake at bay.

So...I remember your Missouri snakes too.

Taking ACT's on Saturday is almost as much fun as killing a snake with a pitchfork!!!

Good Late Night or Early Morning to some and Good Morning to those that have recently gotten up. :D

Had a thunderstorm move pretty close by in the last half hour to hour. There were three loud rumbles of thunder during the event. Rain was fairly heavy for several minutes.

Wow, Garrett... what a story. Glad you made it out of the pool alright. I haven't seen too many snakes over the years. Some in the yard where I lived in Massachusetts a few times and one ws in my yard in the last three year here in Florida... didn't get a good look at it then, though.

Have a good Saturday everyone.

Good Morning!

Well, we survived another Friday the 13th with a full moon! "Garrett!" MAN.....whatta day huh? WHEW, glad your O'TAY weatherbuddy

*sigh* "Oops we did it again!" Yup....spent most of the evening, well into the wee dark hours cleaning catfish  that's the ONLY thing I dislike about catching catfish, they are a pain in the asp to clean, the fins will jab ya, you gotta skin 'um, now I know the true meaning of "There's more than one way to skin a cat!" OH WELL, they sure are GOOOOOOOOD eatin' though 8-) speaking of which, we're having a few neighbors over for a fish fry again tonight, there's O' plenty, stop on by for catfish, hushpuppies, coleslaw and watermelon, say around 1800 MST 8-)

Widremann, yup.....this is a great place to sit and BS, no, we're not allowed to *shoot the breeze*, she gets VERY mad PLUS very sore too "LOL!" Sorry Annette, just had to put that in there 8-)

Off for another cuppa Joe and read the paper, make it a great day would ya?

Dennis 8-)

Morning everyone! I have to keep this kind of short because I am taking the next flight out of Missouri to Pinetop.

Everyone have a great Saturday! I think I will spend part of it trying to reach 7,000.

Garrett, I'll be on the same plane. Dennis what beer or wine should I bring?? What goes with catfish - a nice Pinot Grigio. What do ya think Michelle??

Garrett, that was a really scarey experience. Not being able to swim and being stuck in the pool is scarey enough, but coming face to face with a snake at the same time. Whew - it's a good thing you have a "spunky" Grandma!!!! I did get a little smile on my face picturing her with that pitchfork!!!
Glad everything turned out ok.

Well, I just stopped by to put on a fresh pot of coffee, brew some Earl Grey and drop off some HOT KK's. The chocolate covered ones are for David.

It's kinda yucky here in the Burgh today so I've decided to paint my bedroom. As Dennis would say, Somebodies got to do it. Now my question is, why don't I get to do the fun things that he gets to do. Oh well!!!!

Have a great Saturday everyone.
Take Care
Karan - not a Dink today!!!

Good morning everyone. I had a nice excursion yesterday, paid for it with a sunburn though. :( Oh well.

The weather right now is clearing up, so it should be a nice day to celebrate Father's Day with my family in south Orange County about 1/2 hour from here. I hope I have fun. :D

Hope you all have a great Saturday! :) Joshua

Garrett, you had a HORRIBLE day, didn't you?
Me, it was fine, nothing really happened.
Pojo, I took that in April, scored a 21!
WM, welcome and I think we explained why we do not "shoot the breeze" pretty well.
Gotta run, I have 8 hours to my Florida trip, YES!!!!!!!!!!!

Many Years Ago

(40 to be exact), I was at the Whiteman AFB MO Golf Course preparing my tee shot on the 18th Hole-there was a water hazard immediately adjacent to the tee in the form of a very large pond. For some reason I looked down into the water and about 15 feet away was a large snake gliding rapidly towards me-needless to say my golf shot cleared the hazard :D From CA comes another snake story, I'm hiking on a back trail in Alum Rock Park in San Jose. The trail runs along side a creek with the steep hillside on the other side. All of a sudden, a rattle buzzes just off to my left-I wound up in 5 feet of water in the creek instantaneously.

Howdy everyone! :)

I finished up most of the deck today. With Darla gone since Thursday my testerone is back up to pregirlfriend days! I took a swim this evening and it was absent of snakes, falling ladders, or drowning wxbuddies.

We got a little shower around 5:00 this evening. Only lasted about 10 minutes and got around .05" of rain. Woo hoo! But then again... we didn't need anymore rain.

Everyone enjoy your Sunday and Father's Day! I am getting offline soon. :)

Good Morning everyone! I had to drive to Orlando and back yesterday so I didn't get my S2K fix! I am catching up now with all the tropical activity going on. Could get very interesting here in the next week or so!

Garrett, so glad you are ok!! Got your blood pumpin pretty good huh?

Happy Fathers Day to all of you daddies out there! This day is very tough for me, this will be 8 years since we lost our father. He decided he couldn't take life on earth anymore and took his own life. So while I wish everyone a Happy Day, it is very tough for me. I have stayed away from the Happy Father's Day threads but felt I could open up a little here on the porch. I don't want to bring anyone down here, not my intention. It is just very tough day for me and September 11th is bad for everyone but it is a double-whammy for me because that is also the day he gave up.

Sorry again for the depressing post but it helps me to talk about it with friends.

Sandi...you have since chosen a life of helping others with their challenges, their grief, and their opportunities in front of them.

There is no greater path to follow than the one you have chosen. And whether it is because of your father, or in spite of your father...makes no difference.

For the outcome is positive regardless.
