I have lived on the Treasure Coast of Florida my entire life. I am now 31 and I recall many storms that have affected us or threatened us. Most recently of course being Frances, Jeanne, and Wilma. Growing up I remember David in 79. I remember preparing for Andrew in 92 and then thankfully watching him turn to the South sparing our part of the coast. I recall how crazy it was with Erin in 95 when my Dad decided to put up our plywood shutters at the last minute. We were putting up the last shutters and the storm was already north of us. Then of course there was Floyd in 99 which gave us all a big scare and then later that year sneaky Irene came up and bit us from behind. I am a 4th generation Floridian in this area. My grandfather has handed me down old photos that he had from downtown West Palm Beach after the 1928 storm. I guess you could say that being a native Floridian it is something we are just born to deal with.

I live in coastal Ocean County, NJ. We don't get many hurricanes up this way and that's probably a good thing being that we are only 7ft above sea level. It would be a disaster if it ever hit here, I don't think people here are prepared for any type of storm. Evacuations would be a nightmare. I have a hurricane kit for myself. If a storm ever was heading this way I would go up to the mountains and stay with my family.

Almost neighbors. I grew up in Belmar. Are you by Seaside? I live down in North Florida now about 20 miles north of Daytona Beach. I remember when Gloria hit in the mid 80's no power for a week. At that time I was living in Lakewood.

I had to choose Mid Atlantic region, representing Bethany Beach, Delaware. Neither Delaware or New Jersey are listed in that category, but it's the best choice. But I also represent Eleuthera, Bahamas, as I have a place there, too....technically not the Carribean, but I'd have to cast a vote there...even though it's actually the Atlantic.

I voted in this poll way back when I lived in New Orleans East (I didn't post in the thread for what ever reason). Since August 29, 2005, I have been living in exile in Jay, Florida (@ 30 mi NNE of Pensacola).
Therefore I need to change my vote from:
North Central Gulf to North East Gulf
...in order to keep the accuracy of this poll.
