My town is about to get smacked by severe storms - one with hail is headed in it's direction.

There's also a TORNADO WARNING FOR SALEM COUNTY - the next county over from me;

The National Weather Service in Mount Holly NJ has issued a

* Tornado Warning for...
central New Castle County in northern Delaware
western Salem County in southern New Jersey

* until 515 PM EDT

* at 424 PM EDT... National Weather Service Doppler radar indicated a
severe thunderstorm capable of producing a tornado 6 miles west
of New Castle... moving east at 15 mph.

* The tornado is will be near...
New Castle and Delaware City by 440 PM EDT...
Pennsville by 450 PM EDT...
Salem by 500 PM EDT...

When a Tornado Warning is issued based on Doppler radar... it means
that strong rotation has been detected in the storm. A tornado may
already be on the ground... or is expected to develop shortly. If you
are in the path of this dangerous storm... move indoors and to the
lowest level of the building. Stay away from windows. If driving... do
not seek shelter under a Highway overpass.

Do not use your car to try to outrun a tornado. Cars are easily
tossed around by tornado winds. If you are caught in the path of a
tornado... leave the car and go to a strong building. If no safe
structure is nearby... seek shelter in a ditch or low spot and cover
your head.

The safest place to be during a tornado is in a basement. Get under a
workbench or other piece of sturdy furniture. If no basement is
available... seek shelter on the lowest floor of the building in an
interior hallway or room such as a closet. Use blankets or pillows to
cover your body and always stay away from windows.

If in Mobile homes or vehicles... evacuate them and get inside a
substantial shelter. If no shelter is available... lie flat in the
nearest ditch or other low spot and cover your head with your hands.

A Tornado Watch remains in effect until 800 PM EDT Tuesday evening
for northern Delaware and northeastern Maryland and southern New
Jersey and eastern Pennsylvania.

Stephanie I hope you made it home ok! I drove from Wrightstown to Philly around 4PM and oh boy got hammered! And about an hour ago here in Philly we got hammered even worse! Hope you're ok!!!

I drove home and drove through it. We got the heavy downpours, but fortunately the AC Expressway is to the East of where the real heavy stuff was.

There was a report of a funnel cloud in Chester County, PA. There haven't been any other reports of tornados, fortunately.

When I looked online and saw that statement, I took a look at that line of storms and I don't recall ever seeing one so mean and ugly before on radar.

We needed the rain but...I'm glad you got back safely angelwing!

I'm glad you made it home too! It was nasty, and at least as far as I know there shouldn't be any more storms for me tonight when I drive home from work, at least that's only 8 miles.

Be careful tomorrow though, there'll probaly be floods in low-lying areas!

All I know is that around 4PM torrential downpours from the Trenton/PA border, then around 6PM if you know Philly area, around Castor Ave & Wyoming Ave Circle, I forget what the name of the neighborhood would be called, it was torrential rains then too.

This morning it was just a misty rain (6AM)and it was 66 degrees!

The ones I was refering to came across Chester County, PA, Philadelphia, PA Wilmington, DE, Salem County, NJ where there was a confirmed tornado as well and Gloucester County, NJ. They were mostly to the west of you. On the news they showed a funnel cloud videoed by an amateur in Garden ?City?, PA (or Garden something).

I'm not that familiar with Philadelphia angelwing, but I have heard of Wyomming and Castor Aves.
