I think I need to edit the title. It's a shock I'm sure if you start at page one of this topic, only to read of the tragic and horrific outcome. I'm off to work now and all I want to do is cry, cry and cry somemore.

These people are sick! I don't understand how anyone who knew they had a child, did not start asking questions, when they showed up without the little boy! They should of never been allowed to foster any child much less a special needs child. This world is so sick and cruel sometimes, that sometimes I don't even want to be a part of it. That poor little baby is an angel now and nobody can ever hurt him again.

More charges filed against the foster couple. The original charge of involuntary manslaughter was to arrest the couple and seize the children (they have one child together and he has 3 other children by other women, two of which are sisters). It's never been stated how old his other children are and perhaps they saw abuse. That will come out if so. Our prosecutor wants to go for a Murder charge and the couple will be arraigned Wed. Aug. 30 @ 2 p.m. There was a 3 p.m. news conference held today and that is when these extra charges (inducing panic, false alarm, perjury) were explained. More gruesome details of how young innocent Marcus died as well. Do not read further if this is too disturbing. It's not clear who actually did this, but he was wrapped in a blanket, with his hands tied behind his back, and then taped with packing tape. I heard on the news tonight his mouth was not taped shut because witnesses said they heard him screaming. Who these witnesses are is not clear yet. The foster father's live in girl friend is primarily how this case was solved. She began speaking up and is not charged, yet that is. I hope she receives some sort of charge, to hear a little boy screaming and not do anything right then and there, well, that's contributing to his murder. Also, the missing story started 45 minutes before they were scheduled to meet with the case worker and since young Marcus was already gone, they had to act fast. They had a back up plan of going to Kings Island (a large amusement park in the Cincinnati area) and claiming he went missing there.

I believe there is more to this story. It's clearly not a case of being overwhelmed with caring for an autistic child. I think it goes much deeper and they had to hide past abuse. Our prosecutor said wrapping him in a blanket was not the first time they did this.

I have to ask, was anyone kind and loving to this child? It all has just torn our city up, not just my suburb now, but the entire city. You see people in tears over this.

Here's the latest:

*Edit* The ages of the foster father's 3 other children are listed in a new article. They reported abuse and are all now in foster care (the 4th being taken also).

That is utterly disgusting. I know that autistic child are a challenge but they should have been ready for that when they decided to foster that child.

Sadly, we all realize now this evil couple conned everyone - social workers, the foster agency and neighbors. Close friends and family are now coming forward and revealing past incidences where they had concerns about this couple, as parents. It's always after the fact b/c no one wants to get involved. That's the real tragedy here, someone could have intervened and alerted officials. Forget the foster agency, I wish concerned parties had gone directly to the police.

This couple were solely into fostering for the income. Nothing more. We all hoped there would be some shred of decency in this couple but so far, it has never surfaced. What has surfaced are more and more examples of how evil they truly were. They abused their own children as well.

He had prior domestic abuse charges against him, a bipolar disorder and the wife had a heart condition. Foster agency has come forward to reveal this disturbing fact - foster parents are not required to reveal such info. Can you believe that? If any good can come out of this tragedy, it will be a complete overhaul of this county's foster system. The little boy was placed with them out of a privately run religious foster agency, the county approved of. Some approval huh?

Arraignment today. Their own 4 kids are now foster children themselves. The families of both foster parents sound as screwed up as they are, I'm sure authorities would be hard pressed to find one decent adult able to properly care for these remaining bio children.

I honestly don't think I've cried this much since 9/11. And it feels like Susan Smith all over again.

After reading that last article you posted a link to Mary it sounds like David was the problem here. He flips out on his wife and kids all the time. Everyone was probably deathly afraid to stand up to him or anything he was doing. So sadly they lived in the horror of his disease. Mind you we think she should have done something earlier, but probably felt like he would kill her and himself if she did. That explains why the girlfriend was living in the house, because he told his wife thats the way it was going to be and she went along for fear of her life. I hope he doesn't try to go for that temporarily insanity crap, because he is mentally ill. I hope he gets everything he deserves. :grr:

Not just Cincinnati, but Northern Kentucky as well. I see the people all over this area just crying, trying to understand why this happened. And there is a myspace bulletin being circulated around about it too.

It is a sickening story. It's bad enough for these kids that they don't have their natural parents with them and they're constantly moved from one foster home to another. This is just SAD! :(

I also don't understand how the foster parents are able to "turn away" a social worker if the child is sick. They are still wards of the state, are they not? They should have access to them 24/7 IMHO. :x

Both plead not guilty (no insanity defense that I've read) and have had a $10.1 million bond set, according to WKRC-TV.

Jeremy - I'm sorry, you are very correct. There are people all over the Tri-state area that are torn up about this case. In fact the media interviewed a young woman visibly upset at the arraignment and she didn't even know the couple. She was simply a mother, also of a 3 year old son and wanted to see what evil looked like. She started crying again and couldn't speak. I was in tears listening to her anguish over what happened to that sweet little boy.

I watched the arraignment in its entirety. The foster mother shook and kept her head down, her hair covering part of her face. She glanced around the court room once or twice but didn't look the judge or our Prosecutor Joe Deters in the eye. Quite a different story when her husband walked in. He had a swagger about him, head held high, making eye contact with those involved. When asked to confirm his name and age, he replied yes very quickly. When asked how he pled he was extremely quick to say "not guilty", the lawyer didn't even have to say it. The wife's attorney said it first I believe and she stammered over "not guilty". I'm telling you right now, he thinks he can still con everyone. I can clearly see it and I pray he won't go for an insanity plea. OMG, that would be awful. He didn't even look upset, while his wife shook and you could tell it was just now dawning on her what she was up against. These were my reactions to their demeanor. No tears though, neither had tears.

Marcus' biological mother was in the courtroom and she was in tears. A close family friend spoke for her and said they were please with the high bail.

The judge said he was a father of 4 children and his first responsibility is to protect children. He said if the charges are found to be true, then neither Caroll should ever be allowed to be near children again (meaning their own). That did bring a slight reaction from Liz. But nothing from the creep she married. He blinked a lot - as if he was half asleep. I wonder if he was on bipolar medication? He did seem a little out of it but not enough to miss the chance to face everyone, eye to eye. What scum he is. No remorse. You can plainly see it.

I'll say it again, God Bless Joe Deters (our county Pros. Atty). He was relentless in this case and will continue to do so until they are tried and convicted. He himself has been near tears when he has to state more extremely disturbing details of alleged abuse. Of which I'm sure we haven't heard the last of.

This tragic murder has gone nationwide now. I have wondered many times why the news wires hadn't picked it up. Sad that the outcome brought more coverage but here is a CNN article I heard about.

New update, not much new info though.
http://news.enquirer.com/apps/pbcs.dll/ ... /608310333

They wore yellow jail uniforms that signify suicide watch, with their hands cuffed behind their backs. She might be a suicide risk but I'm saying right now, this scum of a man/human being will try and walk. He'll use any method to get out of the charges, mark my words. He did look the judge in the eye, as if this was just a traffic offense. The word I would use for his attitude yesterday would be arrogant. And they keep replaying his first interview, at the park that day. David Carroll jokes and smiles, in that very first interview, and looks around at the number of volunteers who showed up to look for Marcus. I didn't like his reaction to a "missing child" from the get go. She seemed to look upset but not him.

OTown you might be right, he probably had both woman under his spell and all the children involved were terrified of him. But the bottom line here is, now she is arrested and charged too. Somewhere along the line, you know right from wrong and have to stand accountible for any actions you made or watched take place. She had the chance to speak up. Long before a little boy lost his life. For that, I'll never forgive her for. She was in it for the money too we all suspect.

Many want the girlfriend charged too. It's been implied now she was a g/f to both husband and wife. Which doesn't surprise me at all. I honestly do not believe any normalcy occurred in that home. What those children had to witness day in, day out, will shock us all. I'm sure more will be revealed in the coming days and weeks.

What monsters they were/are. Thank God they can no longer harm a child.

Large section devoted to the short and very sad life of Marcus Fiesel, in my Sunday Cincinnati Enquirer paper today. His sweet picture is on the front page. I didn't even get past the 4th sentence in the main article and the tears started. There are many sections in our paper today, covering the case - readers' letters, editorials, articles written by foster care officials, etc. This tragedy has gripped our region - SW Ohio, N Kentucky, SE Indiana, Hamilton County (Cincinnati), Clermont County (where the foster family lived and where young Marcus took his last tortured and bound breath), Butler County (where he was born to a mother who did not care for him properly), and Brown County (where his body was taken to be burned 3 times in an old still standing fireplace from a burned down house, before being buried, then dug up b/c the Carroll's wanted to get rid of the evidence, then dumped in the Ohio River) - like no other. I honestly have not been this sad, day in, day out since 9/11. You just see the very sad looks exchanged between neighbors, coworkers, strangers in a store, huge sighs. Sighs that will hopefully remain strong to change the system.

The foster parents are being transferred to Clermont County jail next week. That is where the case will be tried, since the murder occurred there. Their initial charge of involuntary manslaughter will be dismissed and they'll be indicted with a murder charge. Prosecutors want to go for the stiffest indictment they can and are trying for the death penalty.

One picture was missing from the front page section - the key witness in this case - the live girlfriend of both the foster father and foster mother (yes, a very sick, twisted, abusive Jerry Springer show type family). I still want to see what she looks like - what evil looks like. 3 adults did this to him.

:-(

These people are so evil and don't deserve to even have contact with a child. I hope they throw the book at the foster parents. The so called GF is just as responsible as the foster parents because she did not open her mouth to say what really happened. People who are guilty will be caught by their own actions.
Rest In Peace now Marcus, you are in a place now where loving arms enfold you.

The g/f has lost custody of her 3 children as well, they are in foster care now. I do get the impression she might still be charged. Yes she is guilty, but w/o her statement/testimony they wouldn't have been able to arrest the parents. Our prosecutor said - we had to make a deal with the devil to break this case.

If her picture is ever published and she goes out in public, she'd better be very careful. I know I wouldn't do physical harm to her but let me just say that if I ever saw her out in public, I wouldn't hold back on a few choice words.....and many others wouldn't either.

So in a sense she's a prisoner in her mother's home. Not the same as a jail cell but she's not free to come and go.
