Ernesto Delayed Power

#1 Postby Sanibel » Wed Aug 30, 2006 5:32 pm

Ernesto hasn't finished here. It is presently dumping 4-5 inch per hour squalls across west Florida from Naples up.

I think this is the longest Gulf Stream boost delay I've ever seen. We are just outside of it here on Sanibel but I can see the low-hanging band curving down into it. Ernesto has done a delayed deepening and isn't moving away too quickly.

It's even pulling in gusty wind from the west.

I hope that this does not translate to a "boom" over the Gulf Stream tomorrow on its way to the Carolinas.

I think I figured this out. The front is what is enhancing Ernesto by venting it by the southerly shear riding up the front.
