I got this email from PayPal

#1 Postby wxmann_91 » Thu Aug 31, 2006 1:22 am

Weird thing is though, I don't have a PayPal account.

Dear PayPal customer!

As part of our security measures, we regularly screen activity in the
PayPal system. We recently contacted you after noticing an issue on
your
account. We requested information from you for the following reason:

We recently received a report of credit card use
associated with this account. As a precaution, we have limited access
to your
PayPal account in order to protect against future unauthorized
transactions. You can check your transaction details in attachment.

Case ID Number: (clipped)

If, after reviewing your transaction information, you
seek further clarification regarding your account access, please
contact
PayPal by visiting the Help Center and clicking "Contact Us".

We thank you for your prompt attention to this matter. Please
understand that this is a security measure intended to help protect you
and your
account. We apologize for any inconvenience.

Sincerely,
PayPal Account Review Department

And then there's this WEIRD attachment at the bottom. Hmmm... methinks it's a virus. After all, there has to be a reason this was sent to my Bulk folder.

But, just checking, what should I do with this?

That's why it says, "Dear Paypal customer" instead of your name. ;)

Anyway, there was a thread about this a couple of days ago. I think you'll find some good advice in it.

I'd say it's a virus if you really don't have a PayPal account. Don't open the attachment and run a virus scanner over it.

If it went to your bulf folder it was probably not a legitimate e-mail. At any rate I never open any of my bulk folder mail.

Almost any email purporting to be from payPal is a scheme to scam you out of money, or less likely, a virus. Very rarely will PayPal contact you by email other than to tell you that a payment has arrived.
