An eye is clearing out on radar, though it appears to be ready to make landfall just south of Wilmington, around Oak Island.

Yep. I think it will go down as 75mph at landfall, perhaps 80mph.

Is it possible it'll be 75 mph at the 11pm advisory? or will it already be too far on land..

Mark Sudduth just recorded a 64 mph wind gust at Kure Beach and a 994 pressure reading. They are about 70 ft from the ocean.

The 11pm intensity will be the de facto landfall intensity. So far, recon hasn't found anything to justify an upgrade... I doubt it'll make it.

If it stays to the east of Cape Fear (which has a slight chance of happening judging from this picture), then it would have another hour or two to strengthen.

I'd say we are getting 60-70 winds now.

If so, you should have no power and see plenty of damage in the morning. Getting around will be nearly impossible come daylight.

The JMPN7 buoy just offshore recorded a 67 mph gust, 55mph sustained. This is a really neat site, whoever originally shared it with us.
