Hazel came ashore in Carolina Beach as I recall.... would this be the first hit ON Cape Fear?

Actually no, they almost always hit there or close to there. If I recall correctly, Floyd, Bonnie, and Charley made landfall there. It is the tip of our state that "juts" out into the Atlantic so it always seems to get hit.

Hey Bane, I am in Riegelwood and man is it flooding out here. I live on a lake and it has crossed over the road here. The wind is now the strongest it has been I think. I hope you all in Ogden are fairing well.

T- numbers 4.0 isnt that the threshold for hurricane?

Is there anyone on here who knows of any other TS making landfall off 988 and still being a TS not a hurricane? If so i would like to see track and storm info to try and understand why this storm is different with its winds!?

Eh? It's not that unusual. According to Dvorak chart, 987mb is the average for a 65kts cane so 988mb being 5mph away from a cane is not exactly shocking or anything.
