Kudos to the METS here......I know when I ask an opinion of a MET, I realize it's and OPINION only, based upon the EXISTING atmospheric condtions which are always changing...I hope anyone who's bashed the mets in the past realizes that they only go on the current data theyhave..
Overall, I see very little MET bashing here, usually just asking for opinions.

With that said, I love reading their forecasts and more times than not, alot of the times they are right on whe it comes to systems and at the very least, it's great eductation. I'm sure they will be back, they are probably just taking a well-deserved rest from all of this. I'm sure most if not all had to work the weekend due to Ernesto, and being on this board is probably the last thing on their minds, especially when having to work OT on top of their regular shift.

Thanks to the Pro Mets, NHC, Mods and S2K members for making the storms easier to understand and deal with.

I rely on this board and the postings of maps, discussions and forecasts from other sites for all my information. Once I get the raw information, I can come here and get Pro Mets and expert members to help me understand what is going on and to answer questions.

These past few days have been wild and emotions run high.
People (especially yours truly) say things they shouldn't and forget how many others from all kinds of places (Pros and amatuers alike) read and travel these boards.

Lots of lessons learned for all of us through this crazy Ernesto!!

Thanks to all for making these storms easier to deal with and prepare for!

I have to disagree.Ever since I found this forum I really don't spend nearly as much time watching the local news or going to the NHC website when there's a storm heading my way.Usually,by reading the stuff on this forum I know more about the storm than the local weather man does! lol

And I really appreciate the pro mets dedicating their time to keep us informed.I love reading everybody's opinions and point of views but it's really nice hearing some words from a pro, especially when you have a major storm barreling down on you.

Patrick99, I agree with you 100%!!! For the average person and those who just like like to read about hurricanes the NHC and the Local news reports are all they need.

What I have found is there are a great number of people who utilize this board who are above the average. Although we are not pro's, we have above average interest in the weather and have spent huge amounts of time in reading, researching, and educating ourselves about the weather. We are smart enough to know that the NHC is the ultimate experts in this field and when it come down to the safety of ourselves and loved ones should always be the final word. We are usually the ones that have our safety plans in place before the hurricane season arrives and have a huge amount respect for Mother Natures power and furry and know not to mess with it. I like to refer to us as students of weather.

As a student of the weather, I like to get my hands on all the sources and draw my conclusions. NHC are the last word and of course my top of the list source and the real pro's here always will refer us back to them as such. I find the local TV in my area is just a repeat of NHC, so prefer to just by pass them and go straight to NHC website itself. I have found no where else though, that I can find the huge amount knowledgeable pro-mets who are so willing to share their time and expertise as here on Storm2k. It takes allot of time to answer all our questions, write and post their forecasts. It is an invaluable resource for us. And for that, I can't thank them enough.

And isn't Storm2k such a great place!!! Here is a single place where, the average person who just wants to read more about hurricanes, the above average "student of weather" who wants more sources and education, and the real pro-mets can and do all get together and share.

Once again... THANK-YOU Pro-Mets and Storm2k

I dunno; perhaps I've been away for too long (school starting up again); but the very notion that people would get rankled over a prediction ESPECIALLY long range, that didn't prove to pan out. For crying out loud, these things are erratic, unpredictable and the number of variables that can affect their courses are so multifarious as to be mind-boggling. If anything, when they get it right, or even close, (which is more often than not), they should receive well-deserved plaudits; but for anyone to be angry or upset because one or more may have misfigured a storm here or there is beyond absurd. It's a sign of either childishness, or ignorance, and before anyone calls that a "flame" understand that it is aimed at NO ONE--with the understanding that if the shoe fits---well, wear it well!

Considering all they have to take into consideration in dealing with these forces, I think the efforts of a pro-met are to be lauded. Nobody is infallible in this life, and to expect anyone to be such is not only unrealistic--it's silly!
