Conditions improving here now. But it will take a while, probably several hours, for the floods to recede.

Quick report in, my protected anenometer has gusted to 28mph so far with frequent gusts in the mid 20 range, temps holding steady around 60. Rain so far is 1.18" per the electronic guage, though that seems to be running low versus my new old-fashioned guage (probably about 1.3" collected in that one, can't measure because it's in the overflow tube). Overall not too bad so far, but considering the center is just barely discernable on LWX, I have a feeling we've a long way to go. Looks like we won't get that heavy batch of rain near the center that's pounding a line from AKQ to the shore, thankfully.

Just about two and a half hours since my last post, and things really haven't gotten any worse. In fact, the rain stopped about forty minutes ago. At this point, it's basically just breezy and overcast.

And cold.

Conditions very slowly improving here, though we had a 28 MPH sustained wind not long ago.

Winds are really starting to pick up now. A little squall went through a couple minutes ago, produced what was measured on my protected anenometer at 14mph sustained, but was probably more around 20mph. Max gust sits at 31mph from a half hour ago and rainfall is 1.65".

It's me again. :cheesy:

It's been another two and a half hours since my last post. Currently light to moderate rainfall, winds sustained at about 4 or 5 MPH and gusting to 15. Not much else to report.

Stay safe, everybody.

Definitely getting a good squall band through Washington at this time. Heavy rain, winds sustained at 35-40 mph, peak gust 51 mph (with my personal sensor, which is about 25 meters above the ground).

Hard sideways rain ALL DAY. Lots of places leaking. A few powerlines down, a few trees down, lots of limbs littering the roads, boats drifting away from their moorings... lagoons, canals all over their banks. Shingles coming off, dumpsters blown over..... Radar here looks like Sussex County got the brunt of the rain today.... looks like we have a few more hours of it.

I think we got in that one too out here around 6:30pm . . . my readings from about 17 feet and behind a tree was sustained around 20mph with a gust to 32mph, and that was the worst I've seen all day.

Rainfall now up to 2.40" and still have a couple hours left, it appears.

EDIT: As of 8:20pm, real rain guage read 2.72", electronic 2.64". Appears like two more heavier bands left to come through.

Must be that we're durn yankees.

It started raining here about 7:30 pm EDT. TWC is predicting a total of about 3 1/2 inches at this location.

Looks like we won't be as bad off as points east (and south)

local weather reports of 6.36 inches of rain in Salisbury, MD. Need to find that link of weatherunderground websites listing local amature weather stations. The coast of DE and Ocean City, MD showed gusts of over 50 mph and sustained over 40 mph this afternoon and evening. More of a storm here than was expected, I'm guessing...... brick building side collapsed and some roof damage on a few hotels in Ocean City and roads breached by tidal flooding....

Conditions are finally improving more quickly. We've been having gale force winds all night, and we had some gusts to 40-45 MPH that took out a couple of trees.

Hey lutrastorm...i live near bethany and was out during the high tide friday afternoon checking for breaches in the sand dunes....none to report to speak of but the nearshore buoy 1/2 mile off bethany got up to 15 feet and the breakers were over 10 feet. winds in delaware were 30-35 with gusts to 50 during ernesto and rainfall of 5 inches in the southern part of the state with less up north.
