My prayers are with the family of Steve. It's really sad how he died - stingray barb through the chest.

Wow just got up to check on things and saw this on yahoo. Really terrible and tragic, I enjoyed watching his shows over the years. I was watching something on the discovery channel just a few weeks ago with his children and wife on the show and was thinking what a nice guy and family. Too sad, R.I.P. Steve. :(

It's very sad, but, I'm not really surprised. I figured that sooner or later one of these wild creatures would attack. It's a big world, man has no business messing with these wild creatures. We are unable to communicate with them...there is no real understanding with many of these wild creatures, IMO.

This is sooooo sad. I love watching his shows and his and his wife's interaction with their co-workers/employees and children. He will be greatly missed and I will pray for his family.

I'm shock. My prayers to his family, friends, and relatives. I find it interesting that he worked so many years with crocodiles and they weren't his cause of death, but a stingray.

Nature has lost a wonderful person that really appreciated and took care of its creatures.

Rest in peace.

Wow. I can't beleive it. Sad news to hear this morning. We used to watch him alot when he first came out. He will never be forgotten thats for sure. He was out doing what he loved to do, being with the animals. He was indeed a great person.
Rest In Peace Steve.

Tragic. He provided great entertainment while putting across a valuable lesson for us all.

I just can't believe it (well, I guess i can) but it's so sad. I had always hoped of meeting him one day. My whole family has loved his shows for many years and he was well respected by family and co-workers. It's hard to imagine him gone now. He left behind two small children, how tragic.

My thoughts, prayers, and condolences to the family.

My mom's roommate got me to watch "The Crocodile Hunter", and saw almost every episode.
