Model Run Schedule decoder

#1 Postby jusforsean » Mon Sep 04, 2006 7:42 pm

Found this on the net, it explains what time the model run comes out in layman time also gives a chart at the bottom for your time zone. Thought it might help some of us who wondered what a 12z run was :D

00z = 7:00 pm (1900) CDT
06z = 1:00 am (0100) CDT
12z = 7:00 am (0700) CDT
18z = 1:00 pm (1300) CDT

EDT = CDT + 1
MDT = CDT - 1
PDT = CDT - 2
UTC = CDT + 5
CDT = UTC - 5

One thing to remember....

The models aren't finished processing at this time... so you have to wait longer to get the output.

Thats a good reference for people though since its always hard for people to get used to z time. :)

That isn't necessarily about models -- it's a conversion from UTC to local time:

To EDT: UTC-4
To CDT: UTC-5
To MDT: UTC-6
To PDT: UTC-7

To EST: UTC-5
To CST: UTC-6
To MST: UTC-7
To PST: UTC-8

If you want to see the status of the model output (for example, "is the 00z GFS out through 180hrs yet?"), go to the CURRENT STATUS OF THE NCEP PRODUCTION SUITE page on the NCEP site.
