I found this quite entertaining. :) I was going to post the same thing.

It makes me laugh even more when some of the responses to this thread are doing exactly what they're complaining about. :)

Slower typing with more thought might just be something to consider when posting. While the spelling and grammatical errors are annoying (English major here), they don't bother me nearly as much (ok, except for the repeated Carribean mistake, it's CARIBBEAN!! :)) as obviously unthought out, tossed off posts that add nothing to a discussion. Frenzy motivated threads or posts are not, in my opinion, a plus to this board and frankly, diminish the value weight of the poster.
By the way, there is a cool little thing called spell check here, but it's actually named spelchek...maybe it's all hopeless. 8-)
this is what I meant by exactly. Also just because someone spells something wrong doesn't mean they are a bad person or diminish their character in my opinion.

Gotcha! You know me, Rainband; if one word can say it, I like to use 20 or 50 or so. Succinct is only a cool word in my lexicon, not my writing - or my talking either, so thank goodness this is just typing! ;)

Kudos to Caribepr for using the word "lexicon"
It's quite a quiet way to impress!

(Proof read and corrected due to some prompting to spell LEXICON correctly!!!)

:tease:

And then once again to spell Caribepr correctly too!

Andy_L, You might have to forgive my posts when I say "favorable" as I say it as Favourable, since that's how it's said in this country :) Same with colour and color... ^_^

I know I make my share of mistakes when I type. However, like others here have already so eloquently pointed out, careless errors in spelling and grammar can be frustrating to wade through. They take away from the impact of the point being made and quite honestly, distract from the nature of intelligent conversation. I am no English major but I like to read.
I encourage posters who don't already do this to take a moment and proofread their posts before submission. That will eliminate many careless errors that tend to devalue the message. :)

fci, please proofread your original post on the topic of "lexicans."

And craptacular, I think lexican is someone who has dual citizenship in Libya and Mexico. Maybe?

I agree, except that the "we are typing too fast to feed the frenzy" is not a good excuse 99.9% of the time. Okay, maybe it's sufficient when we read that first Vortex Data Message from Recon. when Wilma began her unbelievable bout of strengthening last year, but that's an exception. This is not a chat room. If you want to type one-liners, I think the chat room is a much better method by which to do so. The moderators have put a lot of work into fixing this issue this year, and I express my gratitude over this. However, there are still a lot of "one-liners" out there (or "smiley" posts), which do not add any value to the discussion, and actually detract from it in that we have to wade through pages of stuff to get to the good information. If you put some time and effort into your posts, you'll be taken more seriously, and you'll be more likely to receive a detailed response. I'm certainly not saying that all posts should be in-depth, scientific posts, but I think we should come to expect better than "Yup, I don't trust the models either" or "LOL @ memberblah".

In defense of this board, the vast majority of members do make posts that contribute to the discussion. I'm referring to the handful of people that seem to make a highly disproportionate number of posts in many of the active tropical threads.

NOTE: "you" is not in specific reference to Gatorcane; the use of "you" above is a "global" you (to those who make frivolous posts repeatedly).

Now, aren't I the genius to spell lexicon wrong and then chastise someone else for it!!!!!!

My deepest apologies to all "Lexicans" who are board members........

I'm glad someone opened this thread as it is sometimes (actually most times) utterly painful to read some of the posts. And unfortunately I haven't said anything due to the harshness of the board's rules with respect to "criticising" others. And don't 4get about those who add 2gether numbers and letters, Prince wanna-bes in my book. - l8ter :-)

It is proper to use the word "bashing" rather than "criticising" on this board.
Please see the following thread for my lecture on "bashing"!!

hey Meso :)

I realize there are differences in the english language (I'm Canadian, and therefore use the British spellings) I wasn't actually referring to you or anyone specific, just pointing out that favorable/favourable (which is how i would spell it here btw) is VERY frequently misspelled...faverable favrable etc etc etc...)
