How does that tell you that Helene will not be a fish? What am I missing?
Maybe meaning that it's headed straight for Bermuda? If I recall correctly from Florence, any hurricane that affects Bermuda isn't a fish, because there is a (speck of a) land mass affected, and we're supposed to be sensitive to the residents of Bermuda because they're people too, and blah blah blah...

Haha...I totally agree. The point of a fish storm is that it makes a big recurve or doesnt affect land. How about this! I just got a great idea! Fish: A storm that does not directly affect a CONTINENT.

Even if it does, Bermuda is not New Orleans...they have strict building codes...their houses are built to withstand hurricanes...they'll be fine.
That I didn't know. I can't imagine anyone being more stringent than the good ole USA.

In Bermuda, their buildings are built to the equivalent of Miami-Dade standards...the walls have to be at least eight inches thick, and they can withstand winds of 150 MPH...and most of their utilities are underground. When you're out in the middle of the Atlantic, with nowhere to evacuate to, you better live in a damn strong house!

That is being arrogant, the track will shift several times as Helene progresses.

Please don't go there.
No offense intended...but the fact remains that NO was unprepared for a major storm like Katrina.
BTW, so is Tampa...we are SCREWED if a Cat 4 or 5 hits Tampa Bay!

Let's talk synoptics...what's the setup that would keep Helene from recurving before say 65 W?
Even if there is a ridge to the north rather than a clear weakness for Helene to escape into, isn't it likely that another trough will be coming to pick the storm up? Like to hear from anyone who sees such a strong ridge that it could be driven closer to the east coast.
