Don't forget what the GFS did with Ernesto

#1 Postby Valkhorn » Sun Sep 17, 2006 1:41 am

I think with the possible change in models due to the GFS it would be prudent to remember what it did with Ernesto.

It sniffed out the possibility of it going over South Florida or even east of Florida well in advance of any other model. And it very nearly turned out to be right.

Considering this, and considering this has been a very unusual season, I think it would behoove everyone to not write this one off yet.

At the moment the east coast trough is digging more than the subtropical ridge is building northwest.

Gordon was keeping the flow zonal but as the trough scoops him out it will only be a trough/ridge/fight perhaps Helene will have time to pump up her ridge some.

Ive eaten enough crow this season to write off Helene as a possible threat to North America. Not saying its very likely but its not entirely impossible either.
