I, for one, am not at all looking forward to a flooding event. The drainage in our subdivision has badly failed over the past couple of years with all the new building upstream. If we get more than 1.5" of rain, the street fills up. Over 3" and it's up to the houses. This pic was taken during the last "flooding rain event" a couple of months ago. Guess I'd better get the conoe ready again....

Looks like it's mostly over for my area. My rain gauge shows about 1.25" for the day.

The Flash Flood Watch has been chancelled for most of North Texas, however a Flash Flood Watch remains in effect along and southeast of a line from Canton, Corsicana, Waco, Temple, and Killeen until Monday Morning.

As of 10:15 or so Sunday evening, we've received about .75 of rainfall. Had a strong cell roll through about 30 minutes ago and now it's just light rain. We'll be lucky to end up with an inch here given that the end of the precipitation is showing up well just two counties to our east.

Maybe y'all in SE Texas will get more if the front slows or you get a few shortwaves traverse the frontal boundary. But so far, this really hasn't been bad at all and we can always use the rain! :D

We're getting it here in Corpus right now. Loud thunder and lightning and I am going to guess 2 to 3 inches just since 12 AM . The infared sattelite shot over South Texas looks nasty.

I just woke up to thunder, checked the radar, and WOW! I can't even believe how much rain is to our west moving in! Some places have already recieved over 11" to our west (according to radar estimates).

well it's an hour later and it seems we may be spared from flooding. Latest radar trends show major weakening of the rain shield.

Unless there is redevelopment later, it looks like it's a bust for most of Houston metro. Barely .10 here and it looks like on the radar estimates that's the case SE of a line from Conroe to Sugar Land, except for some isolated higher amounts.

I got about an inch and a half today. Not quite a bust...but not a washout either. The worst of it was around 4:30-5:30am this morning.

Very weak event for me. Not even half an inch. More storms possible this weekend and next front moves off the coast.

So much for hurricane season. At this rate we will be safe unless a major pattern change occurs. This is a well needed rest after Rita

yeah, I think we will be making up for the weak hurricane season with a brutal winter though. Seems like Nature always has a way to balance things out..

anyone else get some strong winds behind the front? I just walked outside and realized the breezy winds have snapped many large palm frawns on the area palm trees. This was really unexpected..

yes it is. The front itself was out ahead of the end of the cloud deck and passed through here about an hour or two ago. It feels a lot less humid outside now and there is a definite northerly or north-northwesterly breeze.

Here is a look at the reports from IAH:

http://www.srh.noaa.gov/data/obhistory/KIAH.html

you can clearly see the NW wind shift and lowering dewpoints since about 2:53pm.
