I've never seen this few people in here...

This is the general tropical discussion area. Anyone can take their shot at predicting a storms path.

This is the Hurricane Vacation Season!

Its very well needed and refreshing for many of us. Wow what a year makes. Last year at this time I thought I would loose everything to Rita and many people did loose everything......to Rita and Katrina.

I'll take this every hurricane season. I know the NE and E GOM is still in the crosshairs for another month but we are getting there without any major threats. Lets all hope this continues.

If a tree falls in the forest and nobody hears it, does it make a sound?

If a hurricane churns harmlessly in mid-ocean and nobody is threatened, does anybody care?

We follow the great storms when they might affect our lives or the lives of others. If they do not affect us, or even threaten to, they generate little or no interest in most people, other than the true meteorology buffs.

I've been here when I was the ONLY one here, not a huge rarity (and I don't take it personally either! :)). Ebb and flow, like the weather...that's how it goes.

You may need a doctor for that, not a forecaster.

well...I'm hoping to aviod that...plus the fact my school went to some stupid "if you miss more than ten days of school you fail regardless of excused/unexcused or passing/failing your classes..." so a trip to the docters needs to be avioded at almost all costs...however about a foot of snow would cheer me up :)

Not true

1994, 7 named storms, it only snowed once the following winter.

1997: 7 named storms, snowed once the following winter.

Well I can't find a pattern with El Nino winters, the last two were a far cry from each other

1997-1998, snowed once
2002-2003, one of the snowiest on record.

please don't wish snow on us... NO ONE knows how to drive in snow here 'cause we only have one or two significant snow storms on the coast every 5 years or so. Been living here for 36 years and only can remember 3 or 4 REAL snow storms, and those only 6 to 12 inches. Most towns along the coast here don't even budget for snow removal....

And we have a major hurricane out there with another hurricane about to cause damage in the Atlantic. We don't have anywhere near the amount of users now. Funny....

It is quiet in here, that is for sure. Maybe everyone is on vacation?

It's passed the middle of September, vacation is not a issue. Me and you are the only ones on right now.
