Are you heading for the Super Misery Center or the Wal-Mart Neighborhood Market? I avoid the Misery Center like the plague...

Nice line of storms heating up to Houston's NW. Anyone have a guess as to ETA on the west side? I'm thinking 7:00-ish. Since the line appears to be moving along at a good clip, I'm not worried about our usual street flooding problems this time around. Please just give us a good soaking. Pleeeeeease!

I had to go to the big one to get the rest of Sammys birthday party stuff,... I try to avoid it there too... I did notice the nice line of storms, but i thought we were supposed to get a bigger line closer to the morning tomorrow? Is this just a sign of things to come? and wouldnt ya know, we are having a BBQ tonight.!!

Last broadcast I heard said the system was moving about 20 mph.

I'm guessing it will be in my area sometime around 4 or 5AM. I hate when I see that purple.

I have been getting the most amazing crawler lightning tonight! Also, I just had a few 40-50mph gusts with a gust front.

10:30pm UPDATE: Well, besides the lightning and 2-3 minutes of gusty winds...the storm was somewhat of a bust (especially since we didn't even get anything I would consider "heavy" rain). In fact, probably only saw .2-.3" of rain at the max. and no hail what so ever. Pathetic compared to all the potential this system had. By the looks of it as it was coming in..I thought it would be severe for sure! I guess we will see what the next front brings..

Oh man, we had a very strong thunderstorm here in Austin. Between .50 inch to 1 inch of rain with some hail and a LOT of cloud-to-ground lightning! So much in fact we lost power here for about 4 hrs. Missed the end of the Horns game against Iowa State!

Still waiting down here. Don't rule out the potential yet.

Very heavy rain right now and lots of thunder & lightning in Beaumont. I wouldn't call it a bust...only the "potential" of severe weather was there, and we don't need damaging winds or hail anyway. All of the stuff about Rita being covered right now and with so many still recovering, I'm certainly glad it isn't severe over here.

You got that right! This past week I've been remembering the horrendous heat we got after Rita's passage. Talk about adding insult to injury. Since the memory is still fairly fresh, I've really been appreciating the weekly cool fronts passing through this month and giving us more seasonal temps.

I drove in it from Crosby to The Woodlands.

It an amazing, yet stressful trip. The gust front on FM 2100 rocked the car pretty good, and there was lightning everywhere - and I mean everywhere it seemed. Lots of cloud-to-ground - it was very intense. Had to drive about 25-30 mph near Kingwood for a long time as it was raining in sheets - torrential rain. Then it gradually decreased the whole way home and it looks like I got almost 2" here. I'll check the gauge when it stops completely.

All-in-all - one of the most spectacular storms I've seen in a long time - but it sure was a white-knuckle trip.
