Common folks, let's have 100 votes as that number is not far now.And the voting so far is going great with three options being the most voted but every poll option is getting votes including the (No More Named Systems) one and that is a sign of good participation and a mix of opinions about how many named storms will form or the 2006 season wont see anymore named storms.

[quote="gatorcane"] Things are quiet now but we can't let that fool us as there is pleny of latent heat left across the GOM, Caribbean, and Western Atlantic.
Although water temperature is important, I think the advent of the el nino phenomenom will put the clamps on any severe storm anywhere in the Atlantic and Caribbean..Anything in the Atlantic will veer north of the islands and anything in the Caribe will be at most one very sheered strong tropical storm..Just my opinion

NONE!!! 0 If atmospheric conditions do not change. Time is running out in this dud season. There is a major amount of dry sinking air that covers most of the Atlantic now. It will be a couple of weeks till MAYBE the overall pattern might have a chance to change. Everytime the models show a shift in this or that coming ahead IT NEVER HAPPENS. I would imagine in 2 weeks I will be saying the same thing with the same conditions present.

I think my earlier guess was 9/3/1, and, even though it's already near/at that number, I don't think they'll be many more - the pattern just isn't there for development, and, it'll only get more hostile over the next few weeks, as we know, due to seasonal changes, and increasing El Nino conditions...
