NAO and OLR Phases Make all the Difference in the World
If there was not a negative NAO pattern nor a negative OLR phase this year, this "boring" season wouldn't really be "boring". If the NAO phase was not negative and there was not troughiness over the eastern CONUS, then we would have seen more hurricanes strike land this year and some would likely have been more intense due to the warmer than normal SSTs and higher overall Oceanic heat content. Just goes to show how a couple of climatic factors can make a huge difference in the Atlantic's Hurricane Season!!!!
