Issac is now the 12th "I" storm in a row to reach Hurricane strength

The streak will end at 11

1. Isidore 1990: Cat 2
2. Iris 1995: Cat 2
3. Isidore 1996: Cat 3
4. Ivan 1998: Cat 1
5. Irene 1999: Cat 2
6. Issac 2000: Cat 4
7. Iris 2001: Cat 4
8. Isidore 2002: Cat 3
9. Isabel 2003: Cat 5
10. Ivan 2004: Cat 5
11. Irene 2005: Cat 2

45kt = 51.75 mph = 50 mph
50kt = 57.5 mph = 60 mph

50 kts is the threshold where you add 10 to convert from kts to mph.

The streak continues! Isaac is now a hurricane.

Streak List:

1. Isidore 1990: Cat 2
2. Iris 1995: Cat 2
3. Isidore 1996: Cat 3
4. Ivan 1998: Cat 1
5. Irene 1999: Cat 2
6. Isaac 2000: Cat 4
7. Iris 2001: Cat 4
8. Isidore 2002: Cat 3
9. Isabel 2003: Cat 5
10. Ivan 2004: Cat 5
11. Irene 2005: Cat 2
12. Isaac 2006: Cat 1

- Seasons 1991, 1992, 1993, 1994, and 1997 did not have a "I" storm.
- Isaac could become a category 2 or 3 hurricane so the "cat 1" beside the name could change. This however, is unlikely.
