other city threads anyone?

#1 Postby Extremeweatherguy » Sun Oct 01, 2006 8:03 pm

Recently, posters in my "Houston weather thread" and through PM have proposed the idea that people from other cities should do the same type of thing that I have. These city-specific threads allow people to find information for their city more quickly without having to search through dozens of similar threads. If anyone is interested, and has a large S2K population for their city, I am sure a similar thread would be well appreciated. Here is a link to my thread as an example if anyone else wants to start one:

yes, you should start one for that area. If you just model it after what I do with the Houston thread it should work out fine. :D

Why not just start a thread when there's something worth posting?

As for the Houston thread, I'd prefer to see a headline about whatever specific event you're posting about as opposed to one giant thread. And why discriminate against the few of us a couple of counties over? lol

sorry, didn't mean to discriminate.

As for the starting of threads, yes I agree that specific event threads are great, but some people have told me that they like individual city threads better (and wanted to possibly see them for other cities), so I was just trying to throw this idea out there and see if anyone else wanted to start one for their city.

I live in Southwest Florida.
..Punta Gorda/ Cape Coral/Fort Myers/Naples

I know there are very few of us here, but I would love to have a thread just for us. But, if worse came to worse.. I would follow the Tampa thread.

What's nice about the thread Extreme started is that he adminsters it and changes the title accordingly depending on what's going on. In the Houston area, things can change in the blink of an eye and Extreme has done a great job keeping us all up to date on Houston and SE TX in general.

So - anyone who starts a new City thread would need to commit to the same kind of maintenance for it to be a success. Participation in the Houston thread has been great!

I have no problem if you want to start threads like this.. However if you are going to do so it needs to be done in the "weather attic" forum. The USA weather forum is for generic weather topic discussions. If everyone starts a thread such as yours in there we will just have pages and pages of that. So again, if you feel the need to do these threads please do it in the proper forum (weather Attic)
