Getting some strong downdrafts under the Bear Creek Dome right now. Dogs getting very nervous! Ch. 11 KHOU weather is warning people about the strong winds coming with the storm and telling us to take in trash cans and other items that could become missiles. Actually, I'm glad they reminded me - had to go take down the pool umbrellas. What a pain that is when they go flying - always land in the pool along with the metal tables they're in. Hmmm... wonder if I should get the canoe out again?

Skies are quickly darkening to the NW and W. My office faces to the NW. I can see the squall line approaching downtown. Quite a view it is.

Oddly enough, I heard a fair bit of thunder before the line moved in; now it's little thunder, raining in a solid gray curtain, the street is filling up and no wind. It was probably blowing a solid 30 mph at the beginning of the storm.

I'm over on the W Loop in the Cingular building. Not looking nice at all!!! Those in the Spring area need to be especially vigilant, with a TVS signature headed that way. No reports of anything on the ground yet that I am aware of.

The squall line is clipping along at about 40 mph - hitting hard, but fast.

Its already over here near Katy... Nice winds at the begining of the storm, little thunder, heavy rain, coming down in sheets for most of the ride... getting lighter out right now, current temp here is 69.1. The power tried to go out, but didnt, thank god!! weather radio going off right now.... something about Brazos Bend park....

Another TVS in the area just north of the North Loop. Now geting some thunder and lightning. At least we can see the buildings on the other side of the freeway now. Radar does indicate this will be short lived, but am noticing some fill in behind this bow. Need the rain, but not this hard this fast.

We didn't get anything bad here in Spring...just heavy rain, some lightning and thunder...no wind at all.

Wow its raining torrential sheets of wind-blown rain downtown. Hard to estimate winds from 26 floors up. I am guessing 30-40MPH before visibilty dropped to 0

The nasty stuff only lasted 5 to 10 minutes. Seem to be settling in for a nice, slow soaking rain now. With a little thunder echoing in the distance, makes for a nice day at home for a change. Can't wait for the cool punch to hit in a couple more days. Why do people gripe about rainy weather anyway? I start going stir crazy when we have a string of sunny weather - same as if it's a long stretch of crappy weather. All in all, Houston is a pretty good place if you like variety. For all you non-Texans, it's not always like a sauna here... Really!
