I'm feeling it too. Gusty north winds have taken over with a few gusts probably into the 20s right now.

Sorry Stratos - after the cells passed me I started cooking dinner and watched CSI...

It's a lovely 59° right now! Of course it feels much cooler since we're not used to it. I surely am enjoying it!

It was 57 here at my house this morning. Man, I sure wish the forecast from a week out verified with lows in the 40's. Oh well, it'll happen here soon I hope.

Great observation David! Hmmm... I maybe see some creative ways to report weather obs here... English beer or American today?

I'm loving the cool, windy, and overcast conditions today. Exactly what I've been craving. Now... for that beer... is it beer-o'clock yet?

I not even enough of an amateur to understand much of what is said in the NWS discussions. So can someone explain to me in layman's terms what is driving the high pops for SE Texas the next few days? Is this front going to back up on us? Another system coming in?

Hey Jen,

Several things. The front is going to back-up on us as a warm front overnight and Saturday, allowing the gulf to open-up again. Also, the subtropical jet will be overhead pumping in moisture from the Pacific. Several disturbances in the jet will cause storms to form as they pass overhead. On top of that, moisture from two Pacific cyclones will get entrained in the jet overhead, just adding more fuel to the fire. Finally, mid or late next week another front approaches, continuing the chances for rain. So we basically have a succession of events that will keep us wet for awhile.

Hope this helps...

It looks like a good bit of moisture will be pushing onto the coast from the GOM, as a warm front, bringing us rain and warmer temps.

Feels great today, too bad it won't last! There was definately a chill in the air this morning and it was only in the uppper 50's. Too bad we didn't get the 40's.

Ahh...

What a nice day. :D

Highs so far are only in the lower 70s for NW Houston and with a breeze and sunny skies, it feels great! We are expecting to dip back into the 50s tonight too (which is a change from this mornings forecast).

The front next Thursday looks like it could be a bit stronger, with even more potent fronts following behind it (12Z GFS). I have no doubt that we will see much cooler weather before the month is through with lows in the 40s and highs in the 60s for at least 1-2 days (if not more).

JB is saying that a low will develop east of Brownsville and ride up the TX coast bringing high winds (to gale force) and heavy 4-8" rainfall to much of the NW Gulf coast. He said it may be similar to the situation back in May. Sounds like an interesting situation may be setting up for the end of the weekend.

Wow. Really. Interesting indeed. I would be curious to hear any details.
With strong high pressure over the SE US a low pressure system could develop a large area of strong/gale force winds.
