Boy...if this varifies and with the way this pattern has set up, I honestly believe we are in good, WET, snowy winter 8-)

AREA FORECAST DISCUSSION

FXUS65 KFGZ 142156 AFDFGZ AREA FORECAST DISCUSSION NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE FLAGSTAFF AZ 230 PM MST SAT OCT 14 2006 .SYNOPSIS...A WEAKENING STORM SYSTEM WILL MOVE ACROSS ARIZONA TONIGHT AND SUNDAY. AS A RESULT...EXPECT PARTLY CLOUDY SKIES ALONG WITH MAINLY ISOLATED SHOWERS AND STORMS. BY MONDAY...THE CURRENT STORM WILL HEAD TO THE EAST LEAVING DRY CONDITIONS. ANOTHER STORM WILL MOVE IN ON TUESDAY AND WEDNESDAY OF NEXT WEEK BRINGING BREEZY AND COOLER WEATHER ALONG WITH A CHANCE OF SHOWERS. && .DISCUSSION...A CLOSED-LOW IN THE MID TO UPPER LEVELS WAS LOCATED NEAR THE ARIZONA/CALIFORNIA BORDER THIS AFTERNOON. ALL MODELS IN GOOD AGREEMENT IN MOVING THE WEAKENING LOW ACROSS ARIZONA FROM WEST TO EAST TONIGHT AND ON SUNDAY. AS A RESULT...EXPECT MAINLY ISOLATED SHOWERS AND THUNDERSTORMS. THE ONLY EXCEPTION WILL BE IN THE AREA OF THE KAIBAB PLATEAU AND GRAND CANYON WHERE MOISTURE WRAPPING AROUND THE LOW AND WEAK LIFT WILL PRODUCE SHOWERY WEATHER OVERNIGHT. BY SUNDAY MORNING THE COLD CORE OF THE LOW WILL BE LOCATED OVER CENTRAL ARIZONA. SNOW LEVELS WILL LOWER TO AROUND 7500 FEET WITH SNOW LEVELS AS LOW AS 7000 FEET IN HEAVIER SHOWERS. AS A RESULT...COULD SEE ACCUMULATING SNOW OF UP TO AN INCH OVER THE NORTH RIM OF THE GRAND CANYON AND KAIBAB PLATEAU. ELSEWHERE...ONLY TRACE ACCUMULATIONS OF SNOW ARE EXPECTED. FOR MONDAY THE LOW RAPIDLY EXITS ARIZONA FOR A COOL AND MAINLY CLEAR DAY. FOR TUESDAY...WEDNESDAY AND THURSDAY IT LOOKS LIKE A COLD FRONT WILL MOVE IN FROM THE NORTH. THIS SHOULD BRING BREEZY CONDITIONS ALONG WITH A CHANCE OF SHOWERS AND HIGHER ELEVATION SNOW. IF MODEL TRENDS ARE CORRECT...THE COOLEST TEMPERATURES OF THE FALL SEASON COULD MOVE IN FOR WEDNESDAY AND THURSDAY.

This has been one of the wettest, COLDEST Octobers in over 15 years according to my stats AND...there's yet another COLDER system on it's way for Tuesday! :ggreen:

Average temp here at the house for Oct. thus far: 56° (9° below normal)
Rainfall for Oct. thus far: 1.24" (normal 0 - .24")

Todays high was 53° about 2 hours ago at 1300 hrs. MST, it's now 39° with a COLD rain/sleet mix :eek: :ggreen: ........needless to say, the "Old Pot Belly Stove" is CRANKIN!! 8-)

Enjoy your precipitation!

We might be getting snow here by Friday or Saturday, depending on whether that storm actually reaches here or not. The models aren't completely picking up on it yet. :grr:
