He got all the kids picked up and last I heard, they were riding out a very intense storm at a Lowe's.

Hope they'll be OK...

These tornadoes are even more dangerous due to their fast foward speed. Combine that with the fact they are likely rain wrapped and the result is you probably wont see them at all until they are right on top of u.

Hey 'gale - since we're all focused so much on Houston, haven't paid much attention to what's happening over in Beaumont. How are you doing? Are you having the same flood event?

I doubt I'll know what my total is. My rain gauge only holds 6".

Thundering here again in Uptown. Looking at some of the photos on Chron.com - I really don't want to drive home.

The three or four lines that have been somewhat separated throughout the afternoon, now look to be consolidating, and have a bulls-eye on Houston. Could be a serious threat for the afternoon drive home.

J, I'd come down with a fever...;)

jschlitz- I used to work in Post Oak Tower IN the Galleria. Worst commute I've ever had in my life! I feel you pain: I know how awful the traffic is over there in the best of conditions, and a day like today is H*LL on wheels. Can you leave a little early at least? Word is it's pretty bad up toward the Woodlands with 59 being closed at Livingston.

Yup Jen...tons of rain, high winds, flood warnings and tornado warnings all night/day. Me, personally...limbs and stuff all over the yard, most of 'em floating in the recently-made lake. I'm worried about the rising Pine Island Bayou because if it comes over the bridge near my house, I gotta get out of here or I'll be stuck here. My house isn't threatened to flood though.

The water is rising on my sister-in-law's street and the water is close to getting in the house. That was probably an hour ago and it's still bad there.

I wish I could but deadline to meet....

Anyway, maybe it's the beginning of the end. It looks like the surface trough is pressing into NW Harris county. Winds in Conroe to Magnolia and points north/west have shifted to the north with falling dewpoints.

Based on the radar, should it be letting off pretty soon in most of Houston once the last band passes over??
