On Saturday afternoon, I got some horrible news from the person who I am presently in a long distance romantic relationship with. We are very close considering each other and each other's parents family. The father has an inooperable brain tumor and has 6 months at most to live with the odds being low of making it to christmas.
Please pray for Gerald, the father's, recovery, and please pray for his wife and family to have the strength needed to get through this horrible time especially since his wife is now facing losing her husband after losing her sister in June.
I've never had to deal with someone break down so totally emotionally before. I listened but I don't think I was of much help. I love this person very much so I wrote a e-mail last night letting them know I would be there, I could be leaned on at any time. I didn't get an answer back.
Now I'm coming unglued a bit,. I need advice on my own. Should I stop e-mailing now and wait to be e-mailed? I've read that it's not good on the Internet to give your girlfriend/boyfriend too much space as they need someone to talk to but it's not good to force yourself on your girlfriend/boyfriend either.
Since I didn't get a e-mail back today, should I wait to be contacted now but do I wait 6 months to be contacted or should I maybe send another e-mail on Wednesday/Thursday of this week and what should I say? Since it's a long distance relationship, it's so much more complicated as I miss this person so much and want to be there for them but I don't want to push them away by "smothering" them.
Your prayers and advice are very much appreciated.

Definitely follow your heart.
Cookiely - that was a good idea - a card would be nice - even if you do hear from her. Extra support is always a good idea.
My only other advice would be to call her on the phone. Hearing your voice might help even more.
Take care. Everyone will be in my prayers.

She's probably really busy right now as well trying to give emotional support to the rest of the family as well. I wouldn't worry about not getting a reply back right away.
I like Cookiely's suggestion about the card and give her a call.
I'm so sorry to hear about this. They are in my prayers!
