This is my family. I hope they find out who killed Katherine. My whole family is sure praying right now.
I lost another cousin the same way in 1979, Janie Sanders. She left the middle school here in Pascagoula and was walking home. She was found murdered.

Linda, I believe this may be the link you forgot to put. I hope, like you and your family does, that the murderer is found.

New Evidence Shows Up In Unsolved Murder
A prosecutor says new witnesses have come forward in the 1980 shooting death of 18-year-old Katherine Foster of Pascagoula. The teenager disappeared Feb. 21, 1980, and her body was discovered two days later in a wooded area on the campus of the University of South Alabama. The death has remained unsolved. Jo Beth Murphree, an assistant district attorney in Mobile, Ala., and member of the murder prosecution team, told the Mobile Press-Register that new witnesses had surfaced.
"We got some additional leads we wanted to pursue. I can't go into detail because it's an ongoing investigation and I would not want to jeopardize the case at this time," Murphree was quoted in Saturday's Press-Register. "We have re-interviewed some witnesses and been back to the scene. We have reviewed the evidence and found witnesses previously unknown to police." Since their daughter's killing, Walker and Joanne Foster of Pascagoula have received hundreds of calls from law enforcement agencies and the district attorney's office with questions about Katherine's case. "There was such much effort put into this case and so many people were touched by the type of person Katherine was that we feel she was a blessing to so many," Joanne Foster said. "For whatever reason this happened, we know for sure that Katherine touched lives."
The Fosters say are grateful for the dedication of those involved in investigating their daughter's unsolved murder. The 26-year-old case takes up several big boxes at the district attorney's office in Mobile. According to a Press-Register article, Katherine was found fully clothed with no marks on her body Feb. 23, 1980. Her parents said Katherine was a freshman and lived in the college dorms. Early in the investigation a campus security guard was a suspect, but he was later ruled out, according the Press-Register. Whatever the outcome of the investigation, the Fosters have come to grips with their daughter's death. "If we are meant to know, that is wonderful, but if we don't find out, that is OK, too," Joanne Foster said.
