Don't know about the rest of y'all Central Texans, but the most I got was rain, thunder and some pretty fireworks. Was a nice change to get up this morning and instead of having to crank up the AC and have to reach for a blanket. :D

Very little rain in some parts down here, but if feels good outside. 64 degrees and the humidity is gone!!!! This is after a 95 degree and sauna like past few days!!

I'm a happy camper for now. Can't wait for the next GFS run! :ggreen:

Kelarie -- we didn't even get much thunder-n-lightning in my part of north Austin ... just about an inch of rain and that was it.

Cctxhurricanewatcher -- I'm with you. Good riddance to summer temps and bring on fall/winter!

Temps continuing to fall here. At 9 a.m., we're down to 53 degrees in north Austin. Winds remain gusty out of the north, 10-20.

I just hope that the 90's are over and that we might just see an occasional 80, but I just want to see 60's and 70's from here on out. I want snow and ice. I mean is that too much to ask for, deep in the heart of Texas?? :P

wow! what a gorgeous day it was today. It has now cooled down to 53 in Fredericksburg at 9:40. Feels great.

I'm suprised we did not get any rain last night considering we had storms all around us. Llano county got hit pretty hard though.

I also want to have snow, but could do without all the ice (causes too many problems). It would be nice if we could have a "real" winter in Central Texas this year, it seems like the past couple of years have been very warm. We shall see :D

Got down to 46 here in north Austin this morning. Wow, invigorating!

Looks like we'll have a relative lull in our weather until the middle of next week, when the El Nino pattern flexes its muscle over us and more rain and possible storms/flooding will be back in the picture.

Enjoy the fabulous weekend, everyone!! 8-)

We got down to 41 in here in Fredericksburg this morning and the air smells so fresh.

It looks like Sunday will be another cool day with highs in the middle 60's and lows' in the middle 40's. Keep it coming.

Looks like it will continue to be cool. BTW: According to the 12z GFS, it looks like a really strong cold front could make it's way down to central Texas late next week.

Discussion from this afternoon.

Yeah double D, a number of us have seen that 12z GFS run. Will be interesting over the next few days to see if it continues to suggest such strong frontal passage and if other models support that scenario.

Yeah, we better enjoy the next few days because the rain is coming back ... and perhaps with a vengeance by mid week as another El Nino-ish pattern sets up and may be enhanced by moisture from TD #17 in the eastern Pacific.

Here's an except from this morning's forecast discussion out of New Braunfels (Austin/San Antonio NWS):

SUNDAY AND MONDAY LOOK TO BE DRY ALTHOUGH MOISTURE WILL HANG UP TO THE SOUTH OVER OVER THE LOWER RIO GRANDE PLAINS AND MAKE A QUICK RETURN LATE MONDAY INTO TUESDAY AS AN UPPER TROF APPROACHES BAJA. THE COMBINATION OF LOW LEVEL MOISTURE FROM THE GULF AND MID-UPPER LEVEL MOISTURE IN THE SWLY FLOW ALOFT WILL RESULT IN DEEP MOISTURE AND INCREASED RAIN CHANCES OVER S TX THRU THE WORK WEEK. A SERIES OF S/W RIPPLES WILL EJECT NEWD ACROSS TX AHEAD OF THE SLOWLY APPROACHING TROF WHICH WILL BRING A COLD FRONT THRU THE REGION SOMETIME FRIDAY. OVERRUNNING PRECIPITATION LIKELY TO LINGER BEHIND THE COLD FRONT UNTIL THE UPPER TROF FINALLY MOVES EAST OF THE AREA BY LATE SATURDAY.

OK, its 46 degrees here in A-town with a stiff north breeze at 8 a.m. Definitely a marked difference from yesterday when it was 63 degrees at the same time.

Well the winds are really howling here in Corpus this morning with a nice wintery looking overcast and temps in the mid to upper 50's. My guess is if this front came in month latter, we'd be sitting in the 40's right now down here.

Please let the trend be our friend.

BTW, at 11:00 the temperature is 54 degrees, that is down from 56 degrees just an hour ago.

We reached a low temp this morning of 44 degrees at Camp Mabry here in Austin, which is located a few miles northwest of downtown.

Definitely a chilly morning ...
