We've been getting some heavy rain all evening. I can't check the gauge but it has to be seomwhere in the 2-3" range going by radar estimates. All the drainage ditches are full and the water is very close to flooding a lot of the streets. Some houses along Rayford have lakes in the front yard. Looks like a long night:

Can't hear nuthin' yet, so I'll take your word for it.

Anyone - Are the storms currently popping in the Hill Country what will later turn into the forecasted squall line? Or do you think they'll be the strong "popcorn" variety without forming a true line?

All the cross-like symbols indicate it:

I can see it AND hear the thunder in the house now. Man oh man - I've been watching this line all afternoon and it just will not budge. Hope my sister isn't floating away up in Cypress.

Near Winnie here... We've had at least 8" of rain. I was stuck in Port Arthur and made the trip home around 7:30. Water is receding but it's over the road in places I've NEVER seen it! We almost had it in our house and that's never happened before either.

well I have been watching quite a lightning show for the last hour or two, but as of this moment I have only recieved a few drops of rain from the system. Seems like most of it is just north of here.

Yeah, I understand about the storms not moving... I have been watching the light show out to my north for the longest time... example, I ordered pizza and it took about an hour to get here, it was lightning when i ordered it, and i was hoping that the rain held off till my pizza got here...

I've been watching a pretty good lightning show for the past hour, just to my south. Must be hitting the Conroe/Woodlands area pretty hard. I am in the southern most part of Walker County (half-way between Conroe and Huntsville). We got some VERY hard rain here, early this morning, about 3 am and again around 6 am. But today, it's been light hit and miss type of showers. And no rain here....yet, tonight.

Flash Flood Warning in effect for Harris, Waller and Montgomery counties until 1000pm

Flood Warning for Willow Creek

Expected rise to bankfull on Spring Creek overnight due to ongoing excessive rainfall

Stalled training band of excessive rainfall from Waller to The Woodlands. ALERT station at Spring Creek and SH 249 has recorded 4.81 inches in the last hour and 1.32 inches in the last 15 minutes. Flash flooding is ongoing per Montgomery County EOC in The Woodlands and in subdivisions along and north of Spring Creek. 6-hr rainfall totals are 4-6 inches across the area including 6.46 inches at SH 249 and a 24 hour total of 9.02 inches.

Training band appears per radar trends to be weakening slightly and shifting southward on to already flooded areas of Willow Creek. Thunderstorms may refire over Harris County as meso-outflow boundary is produced and shifts southward with time under density considerations from intense short term rainfall rates.
