55 on the dot here just south of Lake Conroe dam with a very nice breeze blowing. I went to my ranch today up in Madison County to fill my feeders while riding around on my jacked up camoed out golf cart. Man, the skies looked like it was winter time and the 58 to 60 degree temps with a nice northerly breeze sure felt good while riding around......with a light jacket on! :cheesy:

Tomorrow morning will be winter-like for sure. North of I-10 a few area will likely reach the 30s with possible mid 30s (and frost) in places like Conroe. Here are the latest forecast numbers from the NWS:

IAH = 40F (may flirt with the 30s)
Spring = 40F (may flirt with the 30s)
Downtown Houston = 44F
Conroe = 36F
The Woodlands = 39F
Galveston = 51F

I am pretty positive I will be in the 30s tomorrow morning based on the latest NWS forecasts. I seem to always be a few degrees cooler than Spring. It will be a cold one for sure!

BTW, if the 12Z GFS is right...then next Saturday morning will be even colder:

http://www.nco.ncep.noaa.gov/pmb/nwprod ... _216.shtml

It is showing a freeze all the way down to the Dallas area and the 50F line will all the way into the GOM. This would likely mean mid 30s north of I-10, a freeze in conroe, and upper 30s to near 40F for Houston area south of I-10 (with mid to upper 40s on Galveston).

Currently 64 at 3:50 p.m under the Bear Creek Dome. BTW - not a single drop of rain here yesterday. So much for that advertised 80%. :lol: It's getting noticeably cooler in just the last 30 minutes with the sun angling lower and I'm wondering if it will get colder than the 43 currently forecast for the Dome. <eyeballing the wood pile for possible fireplace action later>

That reminds me - the cooler weather finally got me to call the chimney sweep. I've neglected it for 2 or 3 years, which is unconscionable considering I burn about a cord every winter. Yeah, I'm a firebug. With that much volume, I should do it minimum once a year. Just thought I'd throw that out as a reminder to everyone. Don't want to let that creosote build up.

The local news outlets, as always, are being quite bearish with tonight's lows. Even though the NWS has said that they expect 40F for IAH, both NBC and ABC have decided to forecast 44F. Also, the NWS is forecasting 36F for Conroe, yet ABC 13 is forecasting a much warmer 41F and NBC is forecasting 38F.

It will be fun to see what our actual lows end up being tomorrow morning to see who was the most correct...

The dewpoints are there, the big question is will the wind die off enough?

Wind died down about an hour ago under the Dome; down to 61 now. Does it only drive ME nuts that every news outlet has a different forecast?!

It's down to a chilly 54F where I am right now and with clear skies, CALM winds, and plenty of night ahead, I think mid to upper 30s are likely by morning in my area.

Down to 58 here in Pearland however still have stiff N wind around 6-10mph. Probably only get into the upper 40's here tonight unless the winds slack off some.....

The winds are starting to come up again, and that is why within the last hour temperatures have remained steady. However, dewpoints are dropping again and with calmer winds to our north pushing in later tonight, It still looks like a chilly morning is ahead.

If, however, winds do not lighten up to below 5mph tonight, then I don't see temps. getting much lower than the 40-45F range. Still cold, but not 30s. I guess we will see what happens..

BTW: I am currently around 51F.

AREA FORECAST DISCUSSION
NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE HOUSTON/GALVESTON TX
926 PM CST THU NOV 2 2006

.UPDATE...
NOT MUCH TO UPDATE FORECAST-WISE. HIGH PRESSURE WAS SETTLING IN
ACROSS THE STATE WITH A VERY COOL AIRMASS HEADED TOWARD SE TX.
LIKE THE CURRENT FORECAST OF MID 30S IN THE NORTHERN COUNTIES...
40 TO 50 ACROSS THE SOUTHERN TWO-THIRDS OF THE FORECAST AREA.
EXPECT THE BREEZY CONDITIONS TOWARD THE COAST TO DIMINISH THROUGH
THE NIGHT AS THE SURFACE RIDGE MOVES INTO THE AREA.

Looks like the NWS is still expecting the wind to die off overnight.

The wind is completely dead here at my house near lake conroe dam. I'm currently sitting at 45 degrees and dropping at 10:42 pm. It looks like the 36 degree mark is very reachable with plenty of darkness still ahead.

Currently 48.7º here in Spring Bracnh at 11:30. Looks like we are in true radiational cooling(no breeze to stir the air) even this far south. Low 40's in the am would not be a surprise.
