I think the next 7 days would put a major dent in the drought. Just cross your fingers.

Otherwise, Today through Saturday, we'll see an increase in cloud cover with highs in the lower to mid 60s and lows in the mid 40s. From Saturday night to Early Tuesday, we'll see a chance of rain and thunderstorms with the best chances on Monday. Highs wil be in the upper 60s to near 70 and lows will be in the mid 50s to lower 60s. And from Tuesday on, we'll have Partly Cloudy skies with highs in the mid 70s to near 80 and lows near 60.

Weather station in my neighborhood showed a low of 35.7 this morning. I noticed patchy frost on rooftops, but not on the grass. I'm looking forward to a nice wet weekend. As crazy as that sounds, we all know we need the rain.

Good football watching weather. :)

Speaking of decor, on the way to my son's football game last night, I noticed someone has their Christmas lights on the house and shining brightly for all to see. Seems a bit early to me, but to each his own.

We usually put up our Christmas stuff the weekend after Thanksgiving as well. Some people's Black Friday ritual is to go shopping. Mine is to put out Christmas lights, then watch LSU/Ark play that afternoon. This year, we'll be flying back from Disney World that day, so I'll have to push it back a day or 2.

Well, we're inching closer to getting some much needed rain and thunderstorms. Today started out as a Mostly Cloudy to Overcasted sky. By tonight, we have a 50/50 shot of showers, and from Sunday to Monday afternoon, we have a 60% chance of thunderstorms...or as meteorologist Troy Dungan of ABC affiliate WFAA-TV in Dallas said "Clouds, rain, and storms in that order." All the rain will diminish around late Monday Night.

November 8th is Winter Weather Awareness Day. See topic in the Winter Weather forum.

To summarize, here's how the 7-Day Outlook is shaping up for DFW:

Today: Image 67°F
Tonight: Image 60°F
Monday: Image 73°F|55°F
Election Day: Image 79°F|55°F
Wednesday: Image 81°F|61°F
Thursday: Image 82°F|62°F
Friday: Image 77°F|55°F
Veteran's Day: Image 68°F

There are some spotty showers in the North Texas area, mainly in the Weatherford, Denton, and Northwestern Tarrant County. More rain is expected by this afternoon and especially tonight as the rain event becomes more widespread. Additionally, current visibilities have been reduced to less than 2 miles for Bell and Milam counties. Take extra caution if you're going to drive at this time.

The National Weather Service has issued a FLASH FLOOD WARNING for persons in Collin County until 12:15AM CST Monday.

NWS in Fort Worth, TX wrote:* AT 909 PM CST...NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE METEOROLOGISTS DETECTED
VERY HEAVY RAIN FROM A THUNDERSTORMS BETWEEN PROSPER...MCKINNEY AND
BLUE RIDGE. THE STORMS WERE MOVING EAST AT 35 MPH.

BE ESPECIALLY CAUTIOUS AT NIGHT WHEN IT IS HARDER TO RECOGNIZE THE
DANGERS OF FLOODS AND FLASH FLOODS. IF FLASH FLOODING IS OBSERVED ACT
QUICKLY. MOVE UP TO HIGHER GROUND TO ESCAPE FLOOD WATERS. DO NOT STAY
IN AREAS SUBJECT TO FLOODING WHEN WATER BEGINS RISING.

Meanwhile, there's an Urban and Small Stream Flood Advisory for Fannin County until Midnight CST Monday and for Denton County until 11:15PM CST as excessive runoff from the storms prevail, causing minor flooding areas.

Earlier this evening, storms on counties near the Red River reached severe limits, but only for a short period. Most of the storms now developing in Decatur, East of Mineral Wells, and west of Weatherford, will be the strongest, and is expected to hit the Dallas/Ft. Worth Metroplex by Midnight as they move East at 30-35 MPH. Heavy Rain, frequent cloud to ground lightning and wind gusts up to 35 MPH are possible from these storms, so expect additional warnings/watches/advisories withinin the next 5 hours.

The DFW area managed to get 1.26 inches of rain on Sunday Night. May be 1/2 of what we're expecting, but that's enough to water the lawns.

Areas in Collin County got over 3.5" of rain. All of that area drains into Lake Lavon, which is awesome since the lake is still 17' low.

The National Weather Service has issued a Dense Fog Advisory for the eastern 2/3rds of North Texas until 10:00AM CST this morning. Visibilities will be reduced to 2 miles with low lying areas under 1.25 miles, which is gonna be a problem for some commuters. So anybody going to work will have to leave a little earlier and take extra time on their trip(s).

From Wednesday through Friday, we'll have highs in the low to mid 80s and lows in the 50s to lower 60s with Sunny to Partly Cloudy skies. Enjoy that while it lasts because by Veteran's Day, highs will drop back into the 60s.

More of forecast here.

Today is gonna be a mild one as highs reached to near 80 and lows in the lower 50s. We'll expect a slight chance of thunderstorms tonight with the best chances north and east of DFW. No severe weather is anticipated at this time. Temperatures will rise slightly to the mid 60s on Tuesday after a cold front passes through the area with wind gusts as high as 45 MPH, so a possible Wind Advisory maybe issued. And from Thursday on, we're gonna stay dry with highs in the 60s to 70s and lows in the 40s.

The National Weather Service has issued a Wind Advisory for all of North Texas including the Dallas/Fort Worth Metroplex until 6:00PM CST Wednesday. A cold front will sweep through the entire North Texas area before Sunrise, bringing strong Northwesternly winds of 25-35 MPH with some areas seeing wind gusts of over 45 MPH. A HIGH WIND WARNING is for areas Northwest of North Texas including Wichita Falls, where they'll see wind gusts of 35-45 MPH with isolated areas seeing 55 MPH. Also a RED FLAG WARNING and a Fire Weather Watch is in effect for areas west and south of the North Texas region, including Abilene due to low humidity levels and high winds, which may start/fuel a wildfire. The fire danger doesn't concern us, but we still should take extra caution.
