Anyone here with BPOE?

A couple of friends of mine have joined the Elks and asked me to join. In the interview process, I'm told, they ask if you believe in God and if you are an American citizen. I'm two for two.

However, I'm wondering if there are any reasons why I shouldn't join. For example, ten, twenty, or thirty years down the road, if I'm still an active Elk, what if someone questions why I'm not married? If I don't tell, will they still ask? Or is it not a concern with the organization?

If they ask later, tell them it's none of their business. Your private life is just that...your private life.

I had some friends that joined the Elks and they checked to see if he had a family, wife, etc. They had a huge bash for him and he had to bring his wife.

They should have a policy statement somewhere. You could Google this question as you are so adept at. Personally I didn't think that they would allow ducks.

I was an Elk for many years...left the club when I moved down here, as there was no lodge nearby.

Go ahead...you'll like it. Just don't show up if they sponsor a 'duck shoot".

Yes....I belong to the "(B)est (P)eople (O)n (E)arth" organization althougth I haven't attended a meeting in MONTHS, pretty good buncha folks. One thing however, they do "skeet shoots" once in awhile for brushing up on duck hunting, REALLY they DO  at least here!

Be honest and open. If you have to hide who you are to join, would you really want to?

I'm going to have dinner tonight with a couple we are friends with, he is an Elk. We'll be having dinner at the lodge in Pascagoula. They have steaks for 10 bucks on Friday night. I've also attended the Mardi Gras ball there....great fun!.....MGC
