I don't think the kid is the stupid one in that video.

Apparently he had a bit of trouble finding the brakes. For the time being, he should stick to miniature versions of a mustang.

Why? He is the one behind the wheel.

Well, back when I was in high school, I saw the most spectactularly stupid car trick I can imagine - live - right in front of the school during lunchtime.

There was a street that curved past the driver's ed area of the school and then past the front of the school. Some kid wanted to show off his car he had just gotten the night before by racing it down the street past all of us kids out on the front lawn who were eating lunch and talking during break. Well, he peeled out around the corner, promptly lost control, hit the fence of the driver's ed area then raced across the street into the front yard of a house where he took out thee parked cars and the wall of a bedroom.

Fortunately, nobody was hurt.

 Would have thought someone that young would be more likely to stall the car than do that!

This happened to my best friend. She was trying to stop it with her foot. It stopped alright when it went through the back of the garage. She had a very bad panic attack and had to be taken to the emergency room. It was not funny then, but we sure laugh about it now.

Her Dad told her that it was just a car. The house and the car could be fixed and was glad she was okay. She never did that again either.

More people have done this? You'd have to get it in gear very quickly after starting the car to get it to move like it does in the video.

Well in Sylvie's case. This was an old Volkswagen bug. She thought she had it in reverse. Imagine her surprise when she found herself shooting forward.

Because the parent was stupid to give him the keys. A 14 year old American kid generally won't know how to drive a stick and that the car will move forward if it's in gear. The dad got what he deserved for being a moron and giving the kid the keys.

Very true. I guess in this situation one could say, "the apple doesn't fall far from the tree."

If it was left in gear before starting it I thought it would just do a "kangaroo hop" and then just stall rather than what happened here? Not something I have ever done though.

In reply to the post a few above: How can you get first gear and reverse round the wrong way, its usually the other side of the gear stick.

On an old bug you have to push down then far left. She did not push down but knew how to put it in neutral to crank it.

I can't watch the vid, but from what I am reading, both the parent AND the child were stupid. The parent for giving the keys to the kid, and the kid for not standing up for himself and saying "No, I won't". This is one time when it's okay to say no to something your parents ask you to do IMO.
