Cute! You mean they actually turn white? Are they also called "snowbirds"?

Yup. They molt based on seasons. They turn white in the winter, usually around October to April. They can be called snowbirds, but that's rare. Usually they are either called snow quail, snow chicken, mountain chicken, Arctic chicken, or Arctic quail.
