Growing up in New Jersey and then living in Michigan we always put it up the weekend before Thanksgiving, because we always had a houseful. Now that we live in Florida, I usually put it up either the weekend right after thanksgiving or the following weekend. The real trees don't seem to last as long here. Up north we used to go cut them down.

Around Thanksgiving, ususally the day after, we put it up and it must come down on New Years Day. My mama has this tradition or rule or phobia whatever that it has to come down on New Years Day. You had better feel good at 7AM on New Years Day, party or no party, to take down all the decorations.

Someone who lives near me put up their decorations in late August. I'm already sick of them.

By the time Christmas comes around I'm so sick of it that I can hardly take it anymore. Decorations usually come down the morning of 12/26.

Mama, do you have the PVC pipe slit so it fits around the stalk?? Now I can send you some real snow from up here if you need it??

These crepe myrtles have 5 thin stalks so i anchor it in the middle of them. I will take some snow, that'd be real nice!

I try to do it on Dec. 1st, but it usually ends up being a day or two after that.

Weekend after Thanksgiving, my little fiber optic tree goes up with all of the
Christmas decorations in the house! I got me a new little snowlady that lights
up and sings Christmas carols, btw! :cheesy:

I don't, because I live by myself in an apartment.

My parents, on the other hand, put one up in early or mid-December.

The tree is usually bought around Dec. 15 and stays til around Jan 6. I say it's rather odd to put it up before December.

The decorations start going the weekend after Thanksgiving.

They've started 24/7 of Christmas music on the radio already. . .
