2-minute clip posted at abc.com

Oh man, this is CLASSIC DH. Dark comedy at it's best. I love it, plus that music played in the background.

ABC has posted tons of clips for this episode! The hype is incredible.

Tom and Lynette find out Nora is moving to Mexico and taking Kayla...

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4soEP--qO8k

Supermarket scene when the standoff first starts.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NMbwBsr1jtU

Susan/Lynette/Gaby discover the new neighbor(before the hostage situation)

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=b3YMLmtb0G4

Bree confronts Orson about Alma's bruises. He claims it was self-defense. Sounds like crap.

Orson then reveals that Harvey's having an affair to her after Bree tells him she got the info from Carolyn. It then goes to the supermarket where Carolyn is firing shots at Harvey and Edie(she must think Edie is the other woman). They then lock themselves in his office and she starts holding people in the store hostage.

This is going to be AWESOME!

I didn't think it was possible, but I felt bad for Nora at the end. She didn't deserve that. :( and Poor Lynette. I'm so glad every spouse who's been cheated on doesn't act like Carolyn.

That was a lot like the pilot... a lot less comedy than usual, but awesome.

Next week:

Man, Orson must be evil. Mom: I should have smothered you in your crib when I had the chance"

Other good lines:

Edie in response to the whiskey Austin stole only costing $10 "Exactly! You didn't even get the good stuff"

"When she climaxes she actually starts screaming out dollar amounts."

"I thought you didn't want a fifth kid."
"I didn't want the first four and they're starting to grow on me."

"Just go out there and take one for the team!"

"I walk 4 miles a day, and this is my first cookie in 6 years"!

So I really hope Gabby and Carlos are back together for good. I am tired of the back and forth.

Oh yeah... and the most inapproriate one-liner EVER!

"I believe the words you are looking for are 'Thank you'"

Thank God it wasn't my favorite DH, Lynette. Never liked Nora but I was shocked she was shot in such cold blood. I knew Lynette would stand up and let that crazy lady have it. What a shocking turn of events. Think Gabby and Carlos will reunite or remain divorced (but more civil)?

The impromtu breaking news party Bree was throwing was classic Bree! My heart sank when Tom walked in though.

Great episode.

Preview for next week, Dixie Carter as Orson's mother:

Andrew is awesome.

The two death scenes from tonight(the last 7 minutes of the show), it starts after the last commerical just after Nora was shot. Lynette deserves an emmy for that AWESOME performance telling Carolyn her mind!

Brent - yes she does. The moment I think Felicity Huffman deserves it most is after she told Carolyn off. Lynette begins shaking, realizing what she's just done - told a crazy lady off, who just murdered someone in cold blood. Lynette backing down - that moment right there deserves an Emmy. Without a doubt. This isn't funny but when Nora called Lynette you something biotch, in that critical moment, Lynette just nodded her head. I had to smile at Nora finally getting thru to Lynette - shut up and let me talk, cause I don't have all day here.

And now the Scavo family becomes a family of 7. 7th Heaven perhaps?

How come we never see Penny? Shouldn't she be running around by now?

Again, rivoting episode. I liked how they started out with Carolyn hunting down the cheating husband (forget his name) and then they backtracked to explain how everyone ended up in the grocery.

One final question - did anyone think it odd that Edie seemed to know the husband, rather well? More than just neighborly friendliness I mean. I expected a past affair between the two to come out.

Here's today's TV Guide DH Critique - the actor playing the new neighbor is Laurie Metcalf's husband in real life. What a way to keep a member of that family on the DH payroll!

Mary

Desperate Housewives
by Dave Anderson

November 5, 2006: Bang

I read a lot of advance press about this action packed sweeps episode and let me tell you, all the hype did not let me down. I laughed, I cried, I was on the edge of my seat and I screamed "Shut up!" so many times I lost count. Definitely one of the best episodes ever so I must first give kudos to the writer — Joe Keenan (writer/executive producer of Frasier) and the director — Larry Shaw. The entire cast did an outstanding job, but the three powerhouses were Felicity Huffman, Laurie Metcalf and Marcia Cross.

Several of my co-workers had given me the big spoiler a few weeks ago about who was going to die so I was already prepared for Nora's demise. What I wasn't prepared for was the feeling of sadness after she got shot. I was one of those "Nora haters" so hearing that she was gonna bite the dust made me happy. But here I was tonight crying during her death scene! I lost it the most when Nora told Lynette to please watch over Kayla since she was "the only good thing that I’ve ever done." So I must throw Kiersten Warren into that powerhouse acting category. Sure, we loved to hate her character Nora, but making us feel sad during her death? That's the accomplishment of a great actress. I also thought Nora was going to get shot by Carolyn randomly, perhaps by a gunshot that was intended for Harvey. But as soon as Lynette gave Carolyn the back story on Nora, Nora was a goner. Carolyn: "She put the moves on your husband? Why didn't you say so?" Bang. How ironic was it that new neighbor Art Washburn (who just moved into the Young house) was the one who threw the can of peaches at Carolyn's head, knocking the gun out of her hand? Why was that ironic, you ask? Art was played by Matt Roth, the real-life husband of...Laurie Metcalf. Throwing a can at your wife's head on the first day on the job — all in a day's work.

I loved how the camera didn't reveal who it was that picked up the gun and shot Carolyn. Then, slowly, the camera panned left and then tilted up to reveal it was Maya, the woman whose son Jordan was in Carolyn's Sunday school class. If that woman looked familiar to you 24 fans, that's because she was played by Kathleen Gati, who portrayed Anya Suvarov, the Russian First Lady this past season. Side note on the subject of Sunday school — I really liked that Tom made Susan feel better about her daughter Julie being one of the hostages by telling her that Carolyn was a Sunday school teacher and "a Sunday school teacher would never hurt a kid." So true.

I predict that this episode will be the one that gets Laurie Metcalf another Emmy (at least a nomination) and the same goes for Felicity Huffman (but Felicity can also submit last week's as well). Marcia Cross can pretty much submit any of the episodes since Bree gets Emmy worthy scenes every week.

Back to Felicity, that closing dream of Lynette's had me crying again. Such a beautifully touching scene between Lynette and Mary Alice. How many of us have thought about what we would have said to a loved one or friend before they passed away? As I've said before, it's always a treat to get to see Brenda Strong as Mary Alice, rather than just hear her.

Other highlights:
— The fact that it was Bree who told Carolyn about Harvey's affair with Monique and that Bree, in a state of shock, couldn't concentrate on anything but cooking for her houseguests.
— The fact that all the neighbors came over to Bree's house to watch the live coverage and that Ida Greenberg (Pat Crawford Brown, who I've loved since Knots Landing) said "I knew she'd have food."
— The fact that we still don't know the details behind Monique's death and Orson's exact connection.
— The fact that Lynette supported the idea of taking in Kayla as long as Nora was out of the picture. Tom: "I never thought you'd want a 5th kid." Lynette: "I don't. But I didn't want the first four and they're starting to grow on me."
— The fact that Susan had no idea Carolyn was the woman holding people hostage: "There's a crazy woman in there." Carolyn (as she showed Susan her gun): "Yeah — I know."
— The fact that it was Edie who was trapped inside the locked office with Harvey and that Carolyn accused her of being another one of Harvey's "whores."
— The fact that Ian got back into his limo after watching the hostage crisis at the airport and that Susan offered (via megaphone) to switch places with Julie.

The only part I thought was lame was the Gaby and Carlos story line. I just couldn't buy that Gabrielle would break all of those outrageously expensive household items and that Carlos would put an axe into the walls. Thank goodness they ended all the destruction and made up afterwards. What redeemed it for me was that Gaby could relate to Carolyn's rage and said to Carlos: "Let's stop being those people."

So what did you think? Did you feel that the episode lived up to all the hype? Or were your expectations shot down?

#1 show of the week(Grey's got a 13.8/20, and has been falling slowly since the premiere) against a VERY strong Sunday Night Football game(that is by far the best it's done so far).

At 9 p.m., "Desperate Housewives" scored a 14.2/20 for ABC, the night's best rating. "Sunday Night Football" improved to 12.9/19 on NBC. "The Amazing Race" and "Cold Case" averaged 8.3/12 for CBS, while FOX went with "Family Guy," 5.0/7, and "The War at Home," 3.9/6. The CW aired an "America's Next Top Model" repeat.

The reviews have been overwhelmingly positive everywhere, and there's been much more discussion about it than after the previous episodes this season.

One final question - did anyone think it odd that Edie seemed to know the husband, rather well? More than just neighborly friendliness I mean. I expected a past affair between the two to come out.

You know, that struck me as odd. I wasn't thinking about when I watched but now that you mentioned it, it seemed strange.

My God that was a greatr show tonight!!! That shooting totally came outta left field!! I was like Oh Sh#t! Amazing episode!!!

I also have another question for all of you DH junkies.... When the credits at the begining of the show are rolling, and they show all the the DH's, didnt Edie used to be in the "group"? Now shes not? I could have sworn she was technicaly a DH?

Brent will know that answer. I've just always noticed Edie isn't always included in the main 4, from photo shoots or press for the show, to fictionally speaking - the other 4 characters get together and drink, play poker but you don't always see Edie included. If she is, she has an attitude. I always wondered if this bothers NS or not. Brent? An explanation please?

Edie was never in the group picture at the beginning of the show. I know that she bribed Susan one time to get into the card game.

Yeah... I don't know why, but she was never considered one of the main housewives. However, I do believe she'll be on more this season with Marcia's pregnancy. She's apparently been sick a lot and the doctors are telling her to rest, so she's going to be limited in her appearances, especially in the later part of the season(she's due in April when the last couple of episodes typically film). I think Edie's thing with Mike and her nephew will probably go on all season.

I think I always considered Edie to be an "extra" housewive, although she was certainly desperate in the beginning...with her little carwashing routine.

Remember when people tried to argue with us and say the show was soft stuff? LOL! Has anyone seen Nip/Tuck? OMG! DH is a cartoon compared to that.
